Wall-e's Lament
All characters owned by Disney/Touchstone/Pixar
This is a song Wall-e would silently sing to himself at the beginning of the movie at night. It has the same melody and similar lyrics to Jack's Lament from the Nightmare Before Christmas.
There are few who'd deny at what I do I am the best
For my directive is known far and wide
When it comes to cleaning Earth in the hot, hot sun
I excel without ever even trying.
With the slightest little effort of my shovel-like hands
I collect heaps of trash and pack it
Then I spit it out as a cube of garbage
Finally at a tower of trash, I stack it.
Yet seven hundred years after humanity
I have grown a glitch of curiosity
And I, Wall-e, Trash-Compacting bot
Have grown so lonely of a quiet empty lot
Oh, somewhere deep inside of these bolts
An emptiness began to grow
There's something out there far from my home
A longing that I never known
I'm a cleaning machine, making this earth green
So humans will have a place to return to
Though the last unit's gone, I keep working on
And I won't stop working until I'm through
And with parts on my shelf, I can fix myself
Whenever I have any malfunction
I make the best of my work, finding items of worth
That I add to my growing collection
But who here would ever understand
that the Compacting Bot who cleans up the lot
Would tire of loneliness--If I only had one wish
I would have someone to share it all with
Oh, there's an empty place in my bolts
That needs thrills like one thousand volts
The pack and stack, come year after year
Does nothing for this empty gears
