Rose tries to play slam with the Doctor

"Doctor? Do you have any playing cards 'round here?" Rose asked, wandering into the console room.

"Yeah, why?" the Doctor replied.

"There's this card game I've been wanting to play for ages, and I thought you would like it," Rose responded.

"I card games, I'm great at card games, I was around when they first invented card games," the Doctor said, handing Rose a deck of cards with bananas on them. They settled onto the floor of the TARDIS.

"THe game is called 'slam'," Rose began, "I started playing in primary school and got really addicted to it and starting basically playing throughout my school life. Basically, you set up the cards like this…" Rose started to explain the game to the Doctor.

"Do you know the order of the cards?" asked Rose.

"I invented the order of the cards."

"Alright then, when you put the cards down, you can only do it in the order of the cards or reverse," Rose explained.

"Okay, now that you get it, hopefully, we can start," said Rose, getting ready.

"Allons-y!" the Doctor called.

Five minutes later

"Use two hands not one," Rose suggested for the thousandth time.

The Doctor didn't reply, merely looking at the cards with a face of frustration but yet interest. They continued to play, Rose going easier than she normally would and giving the Doctor helpful helps along the way.

"Wait a moment, that's a nine not a six," she heard the Doctor mutter multiple times.

Rose laughed, "I thought you were good at card games?"

"I said I was there when they were invented, I didn't say I was any good," the Doctor replied.

Amazingly, after some time, the Doctor only had four cards left, looking quite proud of himself, he said, "Try beating me now."

"I'm not going to go so easy on you now," Rose muttered audibly.

The Doctor gulped and a face of horror came upon his face.

Less than a minute later, Rose had beat the Doctor in the round, leaving the Doctor gaping.

"H-how…?" he asked slowly.

"Years of practice," came the reply.

This is going to be a long day, the Doctor thought grimly, setting up his cards once again.
