Severing Relations
"I do not understand what this game has to do with spitting." Starfire said as Beast Boy picked up his cards and laid them out solitary style for the next hand.
"It doesn't have anything to do with spit. It's called "Spit" because ah—uh." Beast Boy scratched his head unable to come up with an answer.
"It's called spit because it depends on how fast you can draw, or in the olden days, spit," Raven explained, keeping her eyes closed as she floated above the ground meditating.
"These people would have drawing contests? I find that most amusing. I would like to see a drawing contest," Starfire said smiling. "I was thought to be a good drawer on my home planet." Starfire suddenly produced a picture of a disfigured red orb with lines and slashes that appeared all over the paper.
"It is a Glesh-Gnopf," Starfire said with pride, while the others were trying to figure out what shapes they were seeing as if it was an ink blot test.
"That's interesting, Star," Robin said giving her a small smile before turning his attention back to the game he was playing with Cyborg. Raven looked like she was going to make some attempt to clarify her explanation, but a look from Robin and Cyborg told her not to worry about it.
"Come Star, let's go," Beast Boy said impatiently, as he had the card he wanted to flip over in his hands.
"Okay," Starfire put down her picture and picked up her first card.
"One, two, three, spit!" Beast Boy counted off. Starfire rapidly flipped over her card as did Beast Boy and a few seconds later, a rapid succession of numbers and suites were being put down. Beast Boy sat there with his eyes glazed over as he waited for an opportunity to jump in. Before he knew it, Starfire had slapped the pile with what looked like less than ten cards.
"Did I do well?" Starfire asked as she held a very small stack of cards in her hand.
"Yes," Beast Boy said glumly as he looked down at his large stack of cards.
"Hey," Beast Boy said getting an idea. "Do you want to learn Egyptian Rat Screw?"
"Starfire?" Came a voice from the door. Everyone in the room turned towards the door, knowing that all the Titans were currently in the living room.
"Blackfire?" Starfire cried, seeing her sister standing with uncertainty in the doorway. Her eyes were filled with tears as Blackfire looked at her sister. The look of superiority that had always dominated Blackfire's features was gone. Blackfire ran up to a surprised Starfire and took her in a large hug.
"I'm so sorry little sister, for everything I've done!" Blackfire said pulling away. "Can you ever forgive me?"
