She never liked sweet things.

Orange, Lemon, Strawberry, Grape.

The sugar had started to make her teeth ache.

Her jaw, numb from chewing, but she popped another piece and began the cycle all over.

Passion Fruit, Lychee, Blueberry, Banana.

Her mouth, a mixture of flavors too many she couldn't distinguish one taste from the other. Not anymore.

Cherry, Raspberry, Winter Melon, Lime.

She could feel the sugar thickening in her blood, feel her heart pumping harder, faster.

But she didn't care, she unwrapped another, then another, then another.

Until the table was dressed in crumpled squares of tin foil of varying colors. The fruit graphics on each one twinkling when the sunlight caught them.

Another packet opened, and she inhaled that sickening scent of sugar and fruit concentrate before she began her assault all over. One piece to twenty-four, fast and feverish.

Her mind drifting to days of a honey glazed high school romance, two years ago.

She needed water. Or something else, something strong to wash the taste away.

But she would have to wait.

Not too long.

Not anymore.

A 'Natsuki I'm home' filled the quiet. And so she rose to break it with her footsteps, padding through the apartment in haste.

"Ara! My Natsuki seems to be in a hurry! did my Natsuki miss me that m-hmp!?" Red eyes widened in surprise. But of course, this kind was always welcome.

When breathing once again proved itself necessary, she broke away.

Arms, resting on the older woman's shoulders in loving embrace.

She licked her lips, a finger to her chin and she thought,

"Green tea's… not so bad"

Bitter sweet.

Just the way she liked it.
