I don't feel like "Sparky" today :\
Push It
"Come on Nova- PUSH!" yelled Sparx.
"I AM PUSHING!" Nova screamed, sweat trickling down her face. "If I push anymore, that baby will come shooting out before anyone can stop it!"
"Just a little more!" Sparx tried to reassure her, clinging onto her hand anxiously.
"It's coming!" exclaimed Gibson. "Yes, here it comes. Great Scott, it's big!"
Chiro, Otto and Antauri watched on. Jinmay would've watched too because she'd probably be doing this later in life but got a bit squeamish after a while and left the room.
"I see a head!" said Chiro.
"I think I can see an arm there," said Antauri calmly.
"I SEE TEETH!"
Everyone stared at Otto.
"THANKS A LOT OTTO! THAT'S VERY REASSURING!" screamed Nova. She let out a load groan and pushed once more.
And it came out.
Nova exhaled a BIIIIIIIIG sigh of relief and relaxed on the med table while Gibson picked up the newborn robot monkey and examined it closely.
"It's female! Congratulations," he beamed, handing her to Sparx. Sparx's red fur turned even redder as the baby monkey let out a yawn and cuddled into her father's arms. Her fur was bright orange with a pale yellow belly and she had sparkly hot pink eyes, just like her mother's.
"Well," said Sparx shyly. "It looks like I have two baby girls to look after now!" he joked. Nova responded by giggling and kissing him on the cheek.
"So," smiled Chiro. "Any ideas for a name?"
For a moment there was silence while the team racked their brains.
Finally Sparx hesitantly suggested "What about Avon?"
"Avon? Is that even a real name?" asked Otto, amazed.
Sparx blushed. "Sort of. It's Nova spelled backwards."
He was taken by surprise when everyone started chuckling pleasantly and Nova smiled and tickled the baby's cheek. "Avon," she giggled. "It actually has a nice ring to it." She giggled again as Sparx passed the sleeping baby onto her. "I bet you called her that because . . ."
"Because she's probably going to grow up to be a beautiful and fearless warrior," said Sparx quickly.
Nova smiled shyly. She looked down at her daughter. "Avon . . . warrior . . . how about Amazon?"
"Amazon?"
The eyes of every team member widened in approval.
"I like it," grinned Chiro.
"It means 'female warrior,'" said Nova.
Sparx beamed. "I love it!"
"So Amazon it is. Congratulations," said Antauri pleasantly.
Chiro, Gibson and Antauri clapped their hands for the new parents and daughter and Otto let out a loud whoop.
"OTTO! Be quiet. Amazon's asleep!" Nova hissed.
"Oh! Sorry!" whispered Otto.
Next thing, Jinmay came creeping in. "Is it out?" she whispered nervously.
"Yup. Say hello to our daughter Amazon," smiled Sparx.
"AWWWWW!"
Everyone quickly shushed the robot girl when she squealed loudly.
"Sorry," she whispered, taking a close look at the baby monkey. "She's so adorable!"
"Can we send her riding backwards on a pig now? Like in that song?" asked Otto, making everyone groan.
And then Nova sat up and the afterbirth happened. Right in front of Jinmay. Jinmay squealed and ran out of the room.
Later that night, Sparx and Nova lay down together, tired but happy.
"That was intense," murmured Sparx.
"Try being the one giving birth," sighed Nova, resting her head on Sparx's chest.
"Nova?"
"Yes, Sparx."
He hesitated. "Nova . . . I know I've been saying this for the last nine months but what if I don't make a good dad? I mean we're still fighting the bone bag and all and we're still pretty young . . . what if I'm a bad influence?"
Nova smiled and cuddled up to him. "You won't."
Sparx smiled to and edged towards her. Nova, realising what he was thinking, grinned and leaned forward . . .
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-"
"Oh great," muttered Nova.
