Romeo and Juliet's bodies were laying together in the crypt a few minutes after their families had left. It was a sad but peaceful scene. Their deaths had ended the feud between the Capulets and the Mountagues, and perhaps Verona would rest easy now.

A crack of light suddenly cut through the dark stillness, and a girl ran in.

"Romeo?" Rosaline shouted. "Romeo, you haven't done anything stupid, have you?"

She turned and saw the bodies. Rosaline began sobbing.

"Romeo, what have you DONE?" she shrieked. "I didn't mean for any of this to happen- I was just trying to play hard to get!"

Rosaline wrenched Romeo's body away from Juliet's and cradled him against her chest.

"What have I done?" she whispered. "I can't live without him. . ."

An idea dawned, and she nodded. Rosaline slipped off Romeo's belt, stood on Juliet's platform, tied one end to a rafter and the other around her neck.

"Goodbye, my poor misled love." she whispered.

And she jumped off the platform.

Benvolio heard of what had happened to Romeo and Juliet, but he didn't expect to see Rosaline's body dangling from the rafters in the tomb when he arrived some time later. Wearily, he turned around, shaking his head, and walked back out into the cemetery.

"Jesus, I need to get out of this town." he muttered.
