Roger's POV
"Dad?" My 12-year-old daughter Amanda said.
"Yes Amanda?"
"What was you 9/11 story?"
"Well I remember walking down the streets of lower Manhatten when I saw the plane. I didn't think it was low enough to hit the building but it did. I knew that there was no way the building could stay up that long with a plane in it so I started looking for your mom. I went to the nearby dance studio where she worked. I didn't see her there so called her cell phone.
one ring , two rings, three rings, "Hello?" my wife's voice came through the line.
"Oh thank God, Mimi. Where are you?"
"I'm at the grocery store. Now why are you so worried?"
"HOLY SHIT! THERE"S ANOTHER ONE!"
"Roger there's another what?"
"Another plane. in the World Trade Center." My voice shaking with panic.
"Oh my god."
"We have to get out of here. We have to get Megan and Kyle out of here."
"Okay. I'll get Megan from day care and Kyle from school. You get home and gather some stuff and I'll meet you there."
"Okay."
I ran as fast as I could to Mimi and I's apartment. I packed the car up with some food and got clothes, Kyle's teddy bear, and Megan's blanket. Now I just waited for Mimi. It was about 9:55 when Mimi and the kids showed up.
"I'm sorry we're late, so many people were taking kids home."
"It's alright." Then I heard a series of screams. "Come I got the car packed." We ran everyone in the car and closed the doors as fast as possible. Then I saw the dust. We just sat there. Megan was holding her blanket tightly and Kyle with his Teddy bear. Mimi and I held them hoping our car would keep us alive. We stayed there for a day and finally came out. We looked fo everyone else. The first person we found was Mark.
"Mark are you okay? What about Jennifer and Rachel?"
"I'm okay but, I lost them." Mark said crying.
"What do you mean?"
"Jennifer took Rachel to work with her. Jennifer was on the 76th floor where the plane hit. My family's gone." He said while sobbing his eyes out.
"Mark come here." I said pulling him into a tight hug. Then I saw Collins and Joanne holding each other tightly. " Collins! Joanne!" I cried out.
"Mimi Roger! Thank god you're okay!" Joanne said as she and Collins joined the hug.
"What about the others?" Mimi asked.
"Maureen and Angel ...... were killed from the debris." Collins said holding back tears.
"We'll get through this together." Mark said. We walked to my car and drove home hoping tommorrow would be better.
Amanda was crying now. "You mean I had 3 aunts that were all killed becase of those terrorists?"
"Yes. Is that enough for a school report?"
"Yah. That's pleanty. Thanks Dad."
"It's all good kiddo."
