The Enterprise encounters problems when the warp speed reaches 70! Can Scotty, Kirk and Spock stop the ship before it reaches Romulan space?

Chapter 1

"Full-Warp ahead Mr. Sulu" Captain Kirk said. "Captain, you should let Scott know that we are going Warp 30." Spock said. "What? We can't go Warp 30. We can only go up to Warp 10! Sulu, is it the same by you?" Captain Kirk asked. "Yes. Yes, it is very strange." Sulu answered. "I'm going down to engineering. Spock take control." Kirk said. Kirk went inside the turbo-lift. Once the doors shut he said, "Engineering" to the computer.

When the doors finally opened, Kirk walked right up to Scotty who was holding onto the panel he was working on. "What's going on?" Kirk shouted over the load roar of the engines. "I don't know. I've never seen a Warp 10 quite like this." Scotty shouted back. "It's not Warp 10. It's Warp 30." Kirk replied in a faint yell. Scotty let go of the panel in shock. "I'll try to fix it, Cap'n." Scotty shouted to Kirk. Kirk left the room.

"Scotty doesn't know what's happening either." Kirk said when he entered the bridge. Were going Warp 40." Checkov said. "Spock have you come up with any explanation of this problem?" Kirk asked the science officer. "No I have not." Spock answered. McCoy entered the bridge. "What in God's name is going on?" He asked. "Is there a problem, McCoy?" Kirk asked. "Yes there is a problem. How do you explain how fast this ship is going?" McCoy questioned. "Well we are going Warp 40 so how do you explain it?" "Well, how does Mr. Spock explain it?" McCoy said turning to Spock. "There is no logical explanation." Spock said. "Well have you ever thought of the illogical way?" McCoy asked sarcastically. "Drop the subject, Bones." Kirk said. "What's going on in engineering?" McCoy asked. "Scotty's fixing it." Kirk said. "Everything is going to be alright. Go back to whatever you were working on." "Fine." McCoy left.

"Captain Kirk to engineering." Captain Kirk left the bridge for engineering. When he got to engineering he went over to Scotty. "What's wrong?" Kirk asked. "The engine isn't respondin'. We're going to have to keep goin' 'till the engines die out." Scotty said. "We'll then what are we going to do about the engines when they die out?" Kirk said. "Well were just going to have to fix them. Aren't we?" Scotty said. "Isn't there a way you can stop the engines?" Kirk asked. "I'll try." Scotty said.

Kirk went back to the bridge. "We're at Warp 70." Sulu said.
