Heaven is a Place Where Nothing Ever Happens By asesina
Disclaimer: I don't own TVD or the Talking Heads song "Heaven".
Summary: Kai POV. He's been here for 18 years, and he's deserved every minute of it.
a/n: I hope you like it! This is just a little look at Kai's mindset in the other world (1994).

He's been here for 18 years, and he's deserved every minute of it.
He's evil, pure and simple. He deserves much worse than this, actually. It's pretty comfortable here, with an endless supply of Zima and plaid and Counting Crows CDs.
The only problem is the fact that nothing changes. Ever.
It's like that movie that came out last year, Groundhog Day. Well, it really came out 19 years ago, but who's counting?
Kai tries to focus on a goal. Ok, murder. Simple enough. He's going to wipe out Lukas and Olivia and his favorite, Josette. He'll take his bastard father out eventually, but they're his top priority for now.
The monotony of this place is almost enough to break him. He's tried every kind of suicide: overdosing, hanging, stabbing, drowning, jumping, but nothing works.
This isn't hell. No, it's much worse.
It's monotony, the one thing that he always dreaded. Kai starts to hum that Talking Heads song and he wants to kill the fucking singer.
"It's hard to imagine that nothing at all could be so exciting, could be so much fun.
Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens."
The song crosses his mind every single day, and Kai wonders if that was part of the Gemini Coven's spell.
Those heartless bastards.
Kai walks up to the mirror and studies his reflection. He's got to be, what, at least 40 now?
He wonders what Josette looks like now. She's probably an old lady. He laughs at that image, one small victory in his endless time loop of a universe.
Kai glances over at the clock again. It's 3:30.
Something's gotta be on TV now. Maybe the Simpsons or the latest episode of Star Trek. He wants to know what will happen to Captain Picard, but he's seen the episode 528 times.
"When this kiss is over it will start again. It will not be any different, it will be exactly the same."
The Talking Heads are screaming at him again, but he blocks them out.
Maybe this endless day was his father's misguided attempt to turn him into a normal kid. Maybe he thought that repetition would weed out the seeds of insanity.
Kai grins wickedly. There are some days when he almost forgets about his mission, but he won't let them win.
He'll get out of this place eventually.
He'll watch the next episode of Star Trek and he'll ditch his pager for a new one. He'll pawn his signed Nirvana album for some serious cash.
Then he'll find the rest of the Gemini Coven and he'll cut their fucking heads off.
And finally, finally, all of the repeated days and loneliness and silent frustration will pay off, paid in full.
Kai smiles again.
"I'm coming, dad. I'm coming, Josette.
Watch your backs."
End.
