And He Remembered

Hot …

It was very hot …

Deep inside of Death Mountain, Link sat in a large cavern. Somewhere on the other side, lay the Master Sword, thrown from his grip during that last fight. Link sat with his back against the cave wall, panting heavily and dripping with sweat. Navi fluttered nervously nearby, concerned about him but she sensed he would not welcome inquiries as to his well being at that particular moment.

" … Why?" Link's whisper broke the silence. He had said it so quietly Navi had barely heard him, she knew he was talking to himself.

Link could not remember ever being this hot before, but he remembeedr other things.

He remembered …

the sharp claws of the Wolfos

the soulless stares of the Stalfos

countless injuries

pain

"Why am I doing this?" He said loudly.

And he remembered …

the challenges behind him

those that lay ahead

the impossible odds

the years lost

"I deserve a childhood! A better life than this!" He yelled angrily.

And he remembered …

the great evil

destruction

death

"Why me? Why am I doing this?" He screamed, savagely striking out at the wall he leaned against. He began to cry.

"…Why?" He sobbed.

And he remembered …

her smile

her eyes

her beauty

her

He remembered her.

He remembered why …

"…for her," He whispered quietly as he dried his tears. He slowly pulled himself to his feet and went to retrieve the Master Sword, Navi following close behind.

for her

Authors note: Okay I am not a writer. I just threw this together because I often review stories, and my reviews are kind of annoying and critical even though I don't mean for them to be. So this one author told me that since I hadn't uploaded any stories I had no creativity and I was an idiot. I took that as a challenge so I decided to write this. Ironically I like the works of the author who told me I was an idiot. I usually end up alienating my favorite authors because I only review good stories and like I said, my reviews can be annoying. But I love a good challenge so I wrote this. If I ever reviewed a story of yours please give me one, tell me some trivial or major mistake I made. I tell people all the time, I point out even the most miniscule errors, please feel free to do the same to me. Consider it payback.
