A/N: This first chapter is a little short, but the next chapters shall be longer. Later chapters shall be more interesting.
I do not own Harry Potter or any of the characters contained within this fic, except Adalwolf.
Luna Lovegood's battered oxford sandals clattered noisily as she stumbled down the hallway. She was late for Potions and she knew it, but she could not help but stop to peep in the visors of the battered old suits of armour, could she?
Reaching the classroom, she attempted to enter quietly, while Snape's back was turned, but unfortunately, halfway to her desk, she tripped over the leg of a chair and went crashing to the ground with a surprised "Oh!"
"Twenty points from Ravenclaw, Miss Lovegood." said Snape, without turning around. "Turn to page two-hundred and sixty-five."
The lesson was absolute torture, Luna's potion had turned green instead of the required pink and the yellow froth that had bubbled over the edges of the cauldron had dissolved half of her desk. "Ten points from Ravenclaw."
When the lesson finally ended, Luna hurried out of the dungeons as fast as her legs could carry her.
After turning the corner into friendlier corridors, she slowed to a more leisurely pace, stopping to check behind the tapestries for Crumple Horned Snorkacks.
Looking behind one particular tapestry, she was slightly startled by Mrs Norris, Filch's mangy cat leaping out at her from a small cubby-hole in the wall.
The cat knocked her books out of her arms and all over the floor before slinking away, nose in the air.
