A/N: Alrighty then, this little story is mainly just to let our "Second Chance" review board know we haven't forgotten them, though the story itself has nothing to do with "Second Chance". It's just a little story I (Becky) wrote up one night a while ago while I was bored. We are rather strapped for time lately with Brina finishing her last semester of college and both of us working quite a bit...and only managing to get together to write on the weekends. Beyond that, we're at a bit of a writer's block with the current chapter. We also started another story to help us get over our writer's block (with both 'Second Chance' and 'Change of Destiny').

Anyway, hang with us. We are doing our best to get both "Second Chance" and "Change of Destiny" updated.

Prey

TA 2935 May

Imladris

Legolas, Prince of Mirkwood, made his way silently through the woods of Imladris, hunting his prey. Hearing a rustle he looked to his left, speaking loud enough to be heard, "I am being watched. By a wolfling perhaps? Or a little fawn? Nay. A little wood nymph."

A child's giggled was the only reply and Legolas smiled, "Ah, over this way."

Another giggle and his prey scampered away, making enough noise to be heard by those long departed to Valinor. As Legolas followed on silent feet the sounds caused by a small body crashing through the undergrowth slowly began to decrease as his prey tired itself out.

Smiling again Legolas skirted a small circle around his prey and came up behind it. A small child, no more than four summers old, looking back the way he'd come, watching for his hunter.

Once again moving silently Legolas snuck up behind his prey. Swinging the child up into his arms he growled, "Got you!"

Squealing the boy kicked his legs until Legolas wrapped an arm around them to hold them still and tipped the child upside down. The squeals turned into giggles in a second.

"Barely a mouthful," Legolas growled in a slightly orcish fashion, "What shall I do with you?"

"No eat me, Las! Icky!"

"No?" Legolas drawled, pulling the boy upright, "Icky, you say?"

Small arms wrapped tightly around Legolas' neck, a childish kiss was planted on his chin and a soft voice whispered in his ear, "I love you, Las."

Legolas felt his heart melt as he gently kissed the boy's temple, "And I love you, Estel."

Shifting the child onto his back for a piggy back ride Legolas started back toward the palace of Imladris, "Come, little hope, your ada and brother's should be returning soon...and you still need a bath."

Estel heaved a sigh and laid his head down on Legolas' shoulder, batting his impossibly long lashes up at the elf, as well as he could from his place on the prince's back, and practically cooed, "No bath."

"Yes bath." Legolas replied, "You are covered from head to toe in dirt and you have leaves in your hair."

"Don't wanna bath." Estel pouted.

"If you take your bath without a fuss," Legolas started, glancing back at the boy, I'll tell you where the twins hid your slingshot."

"Promise?" Estel asked eagerly.

"Cross my heart." Legolas vowed.

Estel was quiet a moment, considering, then nodded, "Okay. I take bath."

Legolas smiled somewhat evilly, "Very good. Then I will help you make some little paint balls. After all, I still owe the twins for dying my hair bright pink."

A/N: Looking back, I'm not sure the title really fits, but I had nothing better, so it remains.
