Asami always walked down this alley everyday to get home, it always was an uneventful walk but this day was different. Two hooded figures were huddled close two a garbage can that had a little fire in it, the figures were trying to break a slice of bread between them, suddenly three men came up to them.
"Get out of my sight homeless scum" one of the men said slapping the bread out of one of the figures hands and into the snow that covered the alley, one of the other men stepped on the bread and rubbed it into the snow even more.
"Why don't you and your butt buddies go get a room and leaves us the hell alone?" a woman's voice came from the tallest figure a mix of anger and annoyance in her voice. The man she spoke to suddenly punched her in the face making her fall to the ground with a yelp of pain.
"Show some respect to those who are better then you, worthless pieces of shit" the three men walked off laughing, Asami stopped in her tracks trying to understand what she had just saw. The shorter figure bent down and helped the tall one up. The tall figure stood up and pulled down her hood, Asamis mouth fell open as she looked at the most beautiful woman in the world; she had short brown hair and caramel skin and the most amazing blue eyes.
"What do we do now? That was our only piece of food we had in a week, I'm starving!" a boys voice came from the shorter figure.
"I know Kai, maybe we can try and catch a rat?" said the woman; her bright blue eyes had dark circles under them like she hadn't had sleep in days. Asami was both disgusted and sadden that a rat was their last option. "Um… your lip is bleeding" Kai said point to the woman's lip; she just simply wiped it off with her sleeve.
"Come on the fire has died out, let's get out of here" the woman put her arm around the boy and then walked off. Asami looked back to the garbage can and saw on the ground a blue necklace. She ran to pick it up, she turned to give it back but the two people were nowhere to be seen, she looked down at the item in her hand and saw that it was a locket. Asami turned the locket in her hand and found that there was writing on it, 'to my love'. She opened the locket to find it hand a picture of a man with his arm around the waist of the woman next to him both had smiles on their faces, a little baby was in the woman's arms sleeping happily.
"I will give this back to you I swear" Asami said to herself, she put the locket in her back pocket and walked home.
