A/N: Kay I'm like so new at this, my second cousin bought me both seasons of the show for my birthday two months ago, just to force me to watch it (because I never would before. I kept thinking a show about math... how great can that be.. I was so wrong.) Now I love it and she also told me about so here I am. Also this story's just a short oneshot to start me off. I'll be doing mostly oneshots for awhile. Enjoy!

Don turned his back to his brother angrily, about the leave the garage, as his first foot stepped out the door he heard Charlie mutter at him, "Yeah, that's right, leave. Like you always do; you've never been there when I needed you, why start now?"
The FBI agent whipped around, "What was that?"
"You heard me Donald," Charlie spat and turned to his chalkboard.
"You know nothing about someone not being there Charles," Don advanced on his little, an angry snarl fixed on his face, "Where were you when mom was sick?"
"I was there more than you know Don," Charlie's eyes narrowed, he was tired of keeping his secret so long. He'd promised her, but he knew that she would have understood. When he continued, his voice became sad and tired, "You don't know what happened, you know so little about it."
Don's face softened at the tone of his brother's voice and looked at him quietly, "What are you talking about?"
"Five years Donnie, not one, five," Charlie admitted and turned once again to his chalkboard. He raised his hand to write an equation, but dropped the chalk and shoved his face into his hands. "She tried to hide it, but I could see her getting weaker. Soon she told me, and I would take her to the hospital for her treatment. It was so hard to hide it from Dad, finally, she finally told you guys, but-but she left out how long she had 'it'."
"Charlie, why didn't you tell me, or Dad?" Don asked as he looked at his brother in a new light.
"Dad knows, Mom told him a little while before she... well you know," Charlie took his face from his hands and raised his eyes to his elder brother's, "She made me promise not to tell. I think she thought you'd be angry at her and she didn't want something like that to come between you guys."
"Why not after?" He questioned quietly, and noticed the tears welling up in the younger man's eyes. He took a tentative step forward as his brother spoke.
"I didn't want you to have to know she lied to you, she just wanted to protect you," the tears began to fall in torrents and Don quickly wrapped his little brother in a hug.
"And you wanted the same thing, Buddy," he told him and hugged him tighter, "I'm sorry okay? I didn't know. Make me a promise alright?" Charlie nodded as he finally let the tears from his mother's death fall, "From now on, just tell me the truth instead of trying to protect me okay?"
"Like you told me the truth during the Koverchenko case?" Charlie asked, pulling away from his elder brother and looking him in the eye.
"No, not like that Buddy," Don smiled at his brother gently, "Why don't you come inside and get something to eat? Dad made lasagna."
"Ummmm... maybe we should order pizza..." Charlie trailed off, both of the brothers smelling the same burning odour.
"Don grab the fire extinguisher!" They heard Alan yell from the kitchen.
