District 12 Reapings..
"Hello everyone and welcome to the reapings of the 125th Hunger Games!" The announcer shouted. The announcer had magenta pink hair and wore an outfit to match. I was really hoping that I wouldn't be chosen. Who would've thought. I, Luke Taliah would be reaped.
I certainly didn't but as soon as she called my name I knew I would die. The games weren't made for the poorer districts. They rarely ever won and when they did they usually started an uprising. Speaking of which, our last victor Katniss Everdeen, led the uprising, but It
didn't last long and she was shot down almost right after they thought they had won.
Well back to my story. Sometimes life is just too hard.
"Luke Taliah, come here darling" The announcer smiled at me, showing perfectly aligned teeth, that looked too white to be real.
"Now for the Female Tribute!" She announced, "Lila Devons" My insides caved. That was my girlfriend. My tears were starting to stain my white plaid shirt. "No!" I screamed. They ignored me and brought Lila up to the stage. She looked at me with her big blue eyes. She
was calm. But how?, I thought. She brushed some of her curly blond hair out of her face before grabbing my hand. I used my other hand to wipe my tears as we were rushed of stage.
"Wow you two. Great preformance" The announcer looked at us. I shook my head.
"It wasn't performance." The announcer looked startled. Like we reminded her of someone. But she shook her head yet again and we were rushed into separate rooms to say goodbye to our family members. Only my mother showed up, she put her head on my shoulder
and sobbed.
"I'll be alright mom.." I knew I wouldn't but it was worth lying to comfort her. My mother looked up once more, her hazel eyes rimmed with tears. Suddenly the door flew open and the peace keepers took her away and ushered me onto a train. Lila was aboard and was
twisting her golden ringlets around her finger.
"Lukeā¦" was all she managed to say before bursting into tears. I wrapped her in my arms. Afraid that if I let go, she'll be gone forever. I put my head into her shoulder and sobbed. Neither one of us would survive. But if I had to choose. It would be her, not me, her. Soon
she fell asleep in my arms, and I too, realized I was exhausted, emotionally and physically. I started to drift off but I would eventually regain my composure. The announcer, who said her name was Tillie. I really could care less about her. Honestly she should be in the
games.
Luke, that was all my mind could think about as I lay in his arms. The way his lips touched mine when we kissed. As if I were glass. His voice was so soft and I knew it was because he was afraid. But none of that mattered now. We'd been sentenced to death. Neither of us
would come out of this alive. But if we died together that would be all that mattered. I started to wake up, when there was a stop in the train. Must be at the Capitol already. I started to stand up, but Tillie just shook her head as if she knew what I was thinking. I laid my
head back onto Luke's chest, his steady breathing comforted me. I was about to lose him. The only thing I've ever cared deeply about.
