"Once Human"
By Sephira Luminaire
-A short story on the once-human Tyrant.-
"Make me a witness,
take me out,
out of darkness,
out of doubt."
-Sarah McLachlan "Witness" from Surfacing 199? (c)
Once was a form that could be loved. Could touch and feel and love back.
Once was a man with a life of his own...
*****************************
His name shall remain unknown. But, know that he had a wife and a child on the way.
He was happy at that point in his life, he had found his one true love and a job that enabled
him to provide for her and their future child.
His job would be his downfall...
His wife never liked the idea of his working for Umbrella. She knew better than to trust the
company, there was something suspicious about him and his whole lot.
Her objections were not heard. He did not think of his own safety, but of his wife and child's
future. That was more important to him.
He only saw his child once. A beautiful girl, eyes like her mother, but her hair was his. He saw
her at her birth, and that was it. Now he is just a memory in her mother's mind, and she only
knows him from stories and scarce pictures.
His wife was not suprised when she recieved a call saying her husband had died at work, during
a freak accident. Her grief was too much to question them at the time, though.
They said he had been hooking up a new machine, when the wires went crazy and the voltage had
literally shocked him to death. Typical.
Perhaps she would of never known that her husband was still alive, if he hadn't of come that
night.
She had been sitting in a chair by the window, when she had heard something outside in the
bushes. She went outside to see what it was, and at first saw nothing.
Then, there he was. A scarred flesh of what he formally was. She felt no fear, for his eyes,
even though insane and evil, were still his own. They stood there for a moment, just staring
at each other.
Then he had reached out, brushed his burnt hand against her cheek, leaving a black stain of ash.
Tears had welled up in her eyes, words caught in her throat. So much to say, no way to say them..
She never had a chance to say anything, though. In one swift movement, his claw had revealed
itself, then thrust itself through her heart.
She leaned against him, gasping for breath. Why? She wanted to scream. Why? The only sound she
could make though was a gurgling noise, as the blood welled up in her throat.
Their child had watched it all through the window. She understood what had happened. Knew who the
man was. She also knew that what he had done had not been on his own actions, but the actions of
Umbrella and the virus they had subjected him to.
Hours after he left, she stood there, staring at her mother. She said her good-byes, to her
mother and to her father. And then she had known, her battle with Umbrella was just beginning...
-Short and sweet, yippie!! I hope you enjoyed. R/R please and I'll give you a lollipop! ^_~
Heh. Love ya!!
