Title: Fever

Word Count: 100. No more. No less.

Timeline: Pre-Stanford

Summary: Sam and John are too busy arguing to notice that Dean isn't quite himself.

A/N: MeAzrael, BarbaraGER and I have another challenge word between the three of us that is woven into our drabbles each week. It's been pretty easy to spot in mine 'cause I've also been using it in my titles - but not this week ;)

A/N 2: Just a little shout out to BeachDreamer on this one! Seems we share a love for a certain version of Papa Winchester. Enjoy!

- Fever -

The heat radiating from his eldest son instantly quells the tempest directed at his youngest.

"Sammy, turn the shower on now!"

He's been so busy arguing with Sam he hadn't noticed Dean wasn't there playing peacemaker.

He strips Dean out of everything but his boxers.

"Tepid. Not cold."

Sam's ire has dissipated, replaced with concern.

John manhandles Dean into the shower, holds him as he comes to life beneath the spray.

"Easy, kiddo," John says as Dean's head lolls against his shoulder. "I've got you."

Whispers words of love, too often withheld, close to his son's ear.

"Daddy's got you."

Okay - so I'm willing to admit the last line is overkill, plain and simple. Such a fine line between loving and shmoopy - and yeah, I crossed it. I'm so ashamed! No, I'm not! Yes, I am! Maybe I should just shut up and write a much longer piece around this entire premise...
