Regrets
Was this happening? There was no way this was really happening.
Another spasm of pain told her otherwise.
It drove through her spine, causing her entire body to cringe and tighten. Her throat released another scream of agony. But there was no hope that the sound would bring relief. No one came to her aid; no pause came to the torture.
The pain stopped and her body went limp again. In the dull afterglow of pain, her mind couldn't fathom any more where she was or even how she got here. The space around her was dark and filled with a thick gel that she somehow managed to breathe through. She almost wished to go back to the pain of gel filling her lungs until she had accustomed to it. It would be a welcome change from the agony she was in now.
The brace against her spine buzzed again for a moment before sending another wave of energy through her. This time she leaned forward, almost into a fetal position, to try and stem the flow of pain. Her teeth mashed together, biting off the scream. But nothing stopped it. It just attacked her without remorse for a measure of time before stopping.
How long had she been here, she wondered again. In this place, it was impossible to tell. And it didn't seem to matter, either. There was never any rest, never any food… No reason to keep track of time. She didn't even bother to count the time between bursts of pain after the tenth attack. It didn't matter. All that mattered was that it happened. Sooner or later, it happened.
And happen it did, that burst of energy that burned her entire body to an extent that no one could fathom and survive. Her body flexed in impossible motions uncontrollably until it stopped.
Was it her imagination or was the sensation getting duller? The pain was always as intense as always, but… She couldn't explain it. Part of her mind told her the obvious truth. She was going to die soon. It was a truth she had faced many times, and this was the same like them all. She thought of her life, remembering her home, her many friends, Fox…
The pain attacked her again, throwing all thoughts from her mind. The scream caught in her throat this time, leaving her in silent agony.
When it stopped, his face filled her mind. There was a time when the thought of him drove her into fits of rage. He had driven her away; how else should she feel? If he had loved her like he should, she wouldn't be here now. But now, she was only filled with a sense of sorrow.
The machine buzzed and attacked again. Her body felt the pain and screamed. But her mind had become detached, filling with the sorrow. The pain was a distant sensation, like a small itch.
Why hadn't she gone back to him? He had tried so many times, but she had continued to torture him. He didn't deserve that. No one deserved that.
Through the gel, she started to cry silently. She wished she could go to him, apologize for everything.
The brace buzzed. This would be it, she knew. She thought of him as the energy began to flood her spine. She ran to him, leaving the pain behind. He met her, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close.
Then everything went white.
Legal: I do not own Star Fox.
A/N: I really have no idea where this came from. I felt the urge to get something, ANYTHING down in writing and this was the result. I honestly don't care if everyone hates it.
