"What, you didn't expect for Sasuke to really worry about you, did you?"

Suigetsu/Karin, one sided Sasuke/Karin.

She was dreaming, she was sure of it. There was no way she would ever be in the arms of Uchiha Sasuke, not after he had tried to murder her. Her body shivered, and she realized she wasn't dreaming— she was literally in someone's arms being carried away into the night. It all ends here. I'm going to be killed for not revealing any information about Sasuke and the Akatsuki! I'm still young! They can't kill me! Her mind continued to have a thunderstorm of thoughts.

She came to her senses and tried to kick at whoever was holding her, finding her attempts to be useless. Her legs and hands were bounded.

"Calm down, Karin. We're going to end up being noticed if you keep struggling."

She found the voice to be quite soothing, which was a big surprise considering she hated the person— thing/experiment/whatever he was. "Suigetsu?" she whispered, though it came out sounding more like "Suugesu?" when he clamped his hand down on her mouth.

"Sheesh, you can never follow orders, can you?"

She wished her hands were free so she could punch his face in. Stupid prick, saving her like he thought she wanted to be saved. She had already made up her mind to die a slow and painful death in the jails of Konoha.

"We'll rest here for a bit."

And before she could try to say anything again, they suddenly dropped down to the ground. It happened so suddenly, Karin reflexively wrapped her arms around his neck.

"You can let go of me now."

He sat her down on a large fallen tree and freed her from the ropes. She muttered a thanks and cursed at how they had left her skin red with marks, making Suigetsu laugh and make a crappy remark about how her skin was looking better than ever.

She could have shot back with her own witty remark, but instead, of all things, "Is Sasuke alright?"

He was silent for a moment. "I'm not sure. Juugo and I had a hell of a hard time escaping from the Kage summit, and Sasuke told us that you were in Konoha, but…"

"But what?"

"He said not to bother going after you because you were caught. That guy, he really is made out of stone…" Suigetsu kept the rest unsaid, his mood quickly worsening when he noticed Karin's teary eyes. "What, you didn't expect for Sasuke to really worry about you, did you?"

"No," Karin said, shutting her eyes and clenching her hands into tight fists. "I…really didn't."

"Hey, you don't have to cry…" It was getting too weird for Suigetsu's liking. Karin would never lose her emotions like that and willingly cry in front of him. Something must have happened between her and Sasuke.

I know…I'm an idiot.

It was silent for a long time after that, and Suigetsu felt like he was in a room without air conditioning on a hot summer day, despite being outside and there being a slight breeze in the dark night.

"Well, if you really have to cry, then, fuck, I'm not good with this comforting crap."

Karin felt a hand on her head, awkwardly rubbing her hair.

"But I'll do what I can, so just stop crying."

Just that small action of kindness, or pity, whichever it was, made her sob harder. She grabbed onto his shirt and buried her face in his chest.

"Your eyes are puffy," Suigetsu pointed out.

"Shut up, it's not like I cried all night!" She glared at him, knowing it would be much better to act as though last night had never happened.
