A/N: Word: Relax. Another one I found languishing on my computer. This is my first story showing John as a caring father. I didn't know I had it in me.
Disclaimer: Don't own them. Never will. Would offer my soul for trade, but they're worth WAY more than that. :D
Barely a month into his first semester at Stanford, already Sam desperately missed his family. A case of the flu left him burning up and achy. An unexpected sound woke him to someone in his room.
"Dad?"
"Hey, kiddo. Not looking so good."
"Whatcha doing here?"
"Relax, Sammy. Just checking on you. Good thing too."
For the rest of the night, Sam dozed off and on, fever taking its toll. When he woke, he remembered his father taking care of him. Must've been the fever. Realizing what he'd never have again, he never felt more alone.
