Thoughts of a Different Kind.
Doctor Who one-shot with the Master, delving into his mind this time. Set during the End of Time before the Doctor finds him.
Drums.
He was sick of them really. All they ever did was bang away inside his aching head and drive him closer, ever closer to the brink of insanity. Dark eyes glared at the opposite wall in boredom as another sharp pang of hunger tore at his insides. He'd never been like this before. Never this hungry.
Why now?
Because you were a fool. You let yourself go. You got beaten by the Doctor again and again, with little self-restraint when it came to tormenting him. And now you're paying the price.
The Master smacked the side of his head and growled in frustration, startling a tiny mouse which scurried for freedom. The Master tilted his head to one side, considering for a moment, then grabbed the terrified creature and ripped its head clean off before feasting on the insides. It still wasn't enough. Nothing was ever enough anymore. His chocolate eyes gleamed in a predatory way.
So why eat it then? It was doing okay until you snuffed out its life.
Unfamiliar whimpering escaped from somewhere and the Time Lord's eyes darted around, scrutinizing every shadowed corner until he realised with shock that it came from HIM! But he shouldn't be doing things like this! It was weak and not at all characteristic of him. Bones flashed in and out of sight for a moment and the Master cried out, clinging to himself as if trying to hold himself together.
It hurts doesn't it? But you brought it upon yourself. If you had been kinder to your wife, then she'd never have tried to bring you down.
The Master began to cry and wish. Wish with all his heart for the man he thought he'd hate forever. Who had been his best friend before it had all gone wrong…
A noise. He stared at the direction it had come from before realising it was the guy who he had been wishing for just a moment ago.
Well, this is lucky. Just don't expect help this time.
There we go! Another story told. I'm off now. Bye bye!
