Jackson is my original character, but I don't own CSI.

Spoilers for The Twin Paradox.

Happy Birthday George Eads!

I wondered how Jackson might support Greg after the events in The Twin Paradox, so here's what I came up with. Hope you all enjoy...and pretty please review!

Greg examined the bandage on his forehead and thought about the night's events. All he wanted was to save the woman. But because of what the Gig Harbor Killer did to her, she tried to kill him and lost her own life.

When Sara talked to him, all Greg could think about was what hadn't been done. All he could do was go through the event in his mind and wonder what he could or should have done.

"We were there," Greg said to Sara. "And I could've saved her...and now she's dead. How am I supposed to live with that?"

"You did the best you could. You need to know that," Sara told him. "In time, you will know that. As for how you live with that...I wish I had an answer for that." She offered her friend a sad smile.

Greg smiled sadly, knowing Sara was right. He knew he did all he could. He hoped Finn would be all right and they could come through the ordeal.

"Greg?" Morgan softly asked as she came in. Before Greg could respond, Jackson came from behind Morgan and rushed to Greg. "Daddy!"

Greg sighed and lifted his son into his arms. Wrapping his arms around Jackson, Greg felt the pain from the shooting fall away.

"Daddy, mama said you got owie," Jackson said as he hugged him.

"Yeah," Greg said softly. "I got an owie. But I'm okay, Jacks."

Jackson pulled away and gasped softly when he saw the bandage on Greg's forehead. "Daddy, does it hurt?"

"Not much," Greg said honestly.

Jackson tentatively touched the bandage, and Greg winced softly. "Daddy, I don't like that you got owie."

"Me neither, Jacks. But I'll be okay."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah," Greg said. His heart melted when he looked Jackson's big brown eyes. Watching his son examine the bandage, Greg said a silent prayer that Jackson would be safe and the team would solve the case.

Jackson gingerly patted the bandage. "You sure it doesn't hurt?"

Greg smiled softly. "It hurts a little bit, but I'll be fine. I promise... I am going to be okay."

Jackson smiled. "Okay, daddy. But I still don't like the owie."

"Me neither." Greg rubbed Jackson's back. "You know what?"

"What?"

"When I got my owie, I was so scared I wouldn't get to see you tonight."

"It okay, daddy," Jackson said. "I here, an' we can go home an' have some chocolate milk."

Greg couldn't help but smile as Jackson comforted him. He fought back tears when he thought of earlier and he didn't know if he'd get home at all. "Yeah," he said softly.

Sara and Morgan smiled sadly as they watched Jackson comfort his father. They hoped Finn would be okay and Greg would know the woman's death wasn't his fault.

"We love you," Morgan said. Sara nodded in agreement.

Jackson smiled at the women as Greg rested his head on Jackson's. "We love you!" Jackson said. "An' I love you, daddy!" Jackson wrapped his arms around his father.

Greg held his son close. "I love you, Jacks."

Jackson pulled away and smiled. "An' we gonna go home, an' I help your owie get all better."

To Greg, that sounded perfect. "Yeah," Greg said as he kissed Jackson's cheek. "Let's go home."

The End.
