It was a warm summer day in Quantico, and the BAU had no where to go and nothing of importance to do other then paper work. Emily Prentiss walked into the bullpen, she was running a few minutes late.

"I'm sorry I'm late!" she announced as she walked towards her desk.

"Don't worry. I don't think the boss noticed." Garcia called out as she was walking towrds her lair with a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

"Thanks Garcia." I said to her retreating form. "Hey Reid." I said as I passed his desk.

"Hey" he said back distractedly as he read the file sitting on his desk.

Emily took a few more steps towards her desk before she relized that there was something wrong with the brief picture of Dr. Reid she gathered. She backtracked untill she was in front of him.

"Reid, do you care to explain to me why you are wearing a scarf in the middle of july?" She asked, completely puzzled.

He only spared her a brief glance before he turned his attentions to the file. "No." he said, rather bluntly.

She made no other comment as she walked to her desk, but watched him out of the corner of her eye. She watched as he reached across his desk for the mug of coffee, but doing so shifted the scarf just enough for Emily Prentiss to get a glimpse of the dark, circular bruise that stood out on the young docter's relatively pale skin.

"Oh my god!" she shouted, making a few heads turn her way with questioning eyes, but she could care less. She ran up to Reid's desk and tore the scarf off of his neck and confirmed what she saw before.

"Hey!" he shouted in surprise, but his response was quickly drowned out by her shouts.

"Spencer Reid, how the hell did you get a hickey!" Her very loud proclamation left the entire room silent.

Spencer Reid scanned the room as he quickly took in the facial expressions of all of his coworkers, his eyes landed on Prentiss once again and with an amused glint in his eyes and a smirk that was completely out of character for the usualy innocent looking doctor, responded,

"It was a long night."
