Himy lovelies I hope you like this story. Prince of Tennis has always been one of my favorite animes because, I love tennis have never had the chance to play though because I've had serve knee surgeries on both knees. My first was when I was ten and I first got interested in tennis.
Disclaimer: I not own prince of tennis, I'd love to because I love all of the characters and it's a great series. But I do however own my original characters.
Summary: Ryoma has a sister... a twin sister named Ryumei, who decides it is finally time to join her family in Japan she had to stay a few weeks because, of some unfinished business. When she gets to Japan her father decides to send her to a different school than her brother trying to get them away from each other because they have a complex between them. She decides to pay her dear old man back by dressing up as a boy in school so that she can play against her brother in tournament in school she will go by Ryuu. She also is a pretty shy thing when her brother isn't around but that doesn't mean she is any less confident with her tennis skills.
Introducing Ryumei Echizen
Pronunciation of name: (Ryuu-mee)
"Miss... Miss... wake up. We have landed in Japan."
A young girl about the age of 12 eyes slowly open, and she stretches out like a cat, the flight attendant squeals a in her mind picturing the girl with cat ears on her head which go perfect with the purple hat on her head.
The girl grabs her purple and black bag that was under her seat, which was all she kept with her when her family moved, and slugs it over her shoulder.
She says thank you to the flight attendant before leaving the plane and going down the terminal to get through her gate to see her family.
The girl, Ryumei Echizen went into the food court area where the vending machines were she get out a couple coins out and puts them into the machine and presses the button to get her orange ponta.
She's about to open when she feels her hat come off of her head, she looks up and see her older brother, Ryoga smirking down at her hat in his hand.
Quickly turning around she wraps her arms around his waist, "Ryoga-nii I missed you! So this is where you ended up at."
Ryoga chuckles, "Mei, I've missed you to so much in fact I had to find out where the old man was so I could see my darling Chibi again. So how was America?"
"It was boring after Ryo left, I'm sure glad to be back with him again, speaking of Ryo. Where is he?" Ryumei asked.
Ryoga pouts, "and here I thought I was your favorite brother, oh well I guess and Chibisuke is at school right now. Pa did let him skip cause they're have ranking tournaments today."
After that he spies what his sister has in her hand, he takes it from her, opens it and takes a drink, "thanks Mei my favorite, how did you know?"
Ryumei pouts "Ryoga that was mine. Let's get home I can't wait to see Tags."
Tags is short for Taggelsworth Ryumei's Scottish Fold cat that she got back in America when her brother got his cat Kurapin, Tags was white and had some gray on his head and he had gray fur that looks like mittens on his paws.
"Well let's get you home, speaking of Tags, he is so mean to me Mei he keeps trying to bite my ear," Ryoga says pouting like a five year old giving her, her orange ponta back after taking another drink.
Ryumei giggles and takes a drink of her ponta, as they walk to the car, which was her parents.
Ryoga got into the driver's seat and they drive home rocking out to the radio a j-rock station Ryoga found.
As soon as they get home Ryumei rushes into her house and goes out to their side porch and jumps on her dad's back, "Papa I'm back!"
Echizen Nanjiro was reading his paper in his traditional brown monk yukata, when he was suddenly tackled.
He turned around and smiled his soft smile he only reserved for his wife, Rinko and his one and only other girl in his life Ryumei.
Ryumei gives her dad a big smile and hugs him tightly. "Did you miss me papa?"
"Of course I did Mei-Mei," he said to his daughter.
"So Ryo has his tennis tournament today? He's going to Seigaku your old school right papa?" Ryumei asked him.
"You got that right baby girl. But however you're not going to go to Seigaku. You're going to Rikkaidai a tennis school in Kanagawa I want to put a little distance between you and Ryoma, also this schools education level is up to your standards, your mom picked it out for that and I picked it out because it has one of the best tennis team in the country," he says, Ryumei smile disappears and she glares at her dad.
She then shouts with tears flowing down her cheeks, "why do you always want to hurt me and Ryo like this you tried to do it by scheduling my appointment late back in California and leaving me there all alone. And I didn't know what to do but I didn't complain to you or mama one bit and now you're doing this."
Nanjiro flinches as his daughter cries, he hates to see his daughter hurting but he really want them to grow apart a bit, they really depend on each other.
"Fine if you're doing this I'm going to school as a boy and going to dress like a boy all the time, you can tell mama that this is your fault," Ryumei said to her father and ran around her house opening rooms until she saw the one with her brothers stuff in and runs to the bed and curls up in it crying.
'Ryoma why did you leave me in America, I know I said I'd be fine but what I found out I'm not fine without you,' Ryumei thought as she fell asleep from jetlag.
A few hours later Ryoma got home, went up to Ryoga and demanded "where is she?"
"Ano I don't know she was talking to pa last I saw her, and then she disappeared," Ryoga shrugged.
Ryoma then stomped off to find his oyaji, and get there finding him on the porch just laying around sleeping, Ryoma then kicks him in the stomach.
"Where is she oyaji?"
"We kind of got in a fight earlier and she's in your room, where else would she go Ryoma? Outside? And get lost, your sister is smarter than that, baka Seishonen," Nanjiro says with a wave of his hand.
Ryoma ignores is father and runs to his room finding his sister curled up in a ball sleeping with tear lines down her cheek.
He slowly moves over to her and pulls her into his chest, running his fingers through her hair.
"Mei wake up, it's Ryo I miss you so much little sister," he says in a gentle voice.
Ryumei's eyes snap open when she hear Ryoma calling her, "I'm only ten minutes younger than you meanie."
Ryoma smirks and pulls away from her and sits on the edge of the bed, "but that few minutes still means you're younger than me. So how was your appointment?"
Ryumei frowns and shakes her head, "they said I can't over exhaust myself or I'll pass out I hate my weak body. Dr. Kane said that I shouldn't play tennis for long periods of times I can't play past two hours or I'll pass out, which he said could lead to something much more serious. And of course I have to keep taking my medicine, iron deficiency vitamins and take my inhaler everywhere."
"Also do you know what dad's doing he's making me go to a different school then Seigaku we're going to be separated again. And I just got back," Ryumei continues to rant.
Ryo then pulls her into another hug knowing that's the only thing that will calm her down.
She puts her head on his chest listening to his heart beat.
"So what are you going to do about this school?" Ryoma asks his sister.
Ryumei smirks, "I'm going as a boy of course I don't want to play with girls, they're so slow and they don't know anything about tennis. Want to show me a place to get my hair cut?"
Ryoma smirks but then it drops when she mentions cutting her hair, "but Ryuu-Ryuu your hairs so pretty the way it frames your face makes you look like the angel you are."
A sweat drop appears on her forehead, "I didn't think you care about appears Ryo especially girls."
"I care about yours, it fits into a ponytail perfectly, but I guess you could just keep the part that frames your face and cut the back short, you'll just look a little girly but you'd still look like a boy if you'd wrap your chest," Ryoma suggests.
After he said this a cat with his ears folded down and gray and white fur comes in the room. As soon he sees sight of the girl his eyes sparkle and he comes running to her and jump on her lap and rubs his face on her.
"Tags, I missed you so much," Ryumei says hugging the cat to her chest.
Nanjiro then pops his head in the room, "hey Mei-Mei we called your school and sent in your transfer papers your name is Ryuu on them and your gender is a boy, sorry about not letting you go to school with Seishonen your mother and I just thought it was for the best. And your mom said that she'll take you and Seishonen to the mall to get your hair cut. Your mom said its fine if you go to school as a boy but if you're going out or around the house you have to dress as a girl."
"Fine if that's what mama wants I'll do it," Ryumei says, shrugging her shoulders.
"That's my girl! Get ready after we get your hair cut we need to pick up your uniform and we're going out for sushi. Your favorite," Nanjiro says.
Ryumei smiles in excitement putting down Tags before running off to get her bag, "let me get ready then you to Ryo unless you want to wear you uniform to the mall."
Ryumei gets ready wearing a pair of skinny jeans with a dark purple and blue plaid long sleeve shirt tied around her waist, a purple t-shirt, black tennis shoes and a purple beanie on her head. She picks up her purse on her way out of the room.
She doesn't bother with her hair because she just going to get it cut going out in the dining room, and sees her brother in black jeans, a green shirt and a black hoodie and of course his black tennis shoes.
She smiles and grabs his arm yanking him out of the house with her, "we're going out to the car! Hurry up!"
"Okay okay," Ryoga says coming down the stairs and Rinko Echizen comes out into the dining room.
"Someone's excited," Rinko says chuckling at her daughters actions.
Nanjiro smirks coming from the porch, "she hasn't seen him in weeks so of course she is."
"Well we should get out there before she decides she's old enough and drives away without us," Ryoga says going outside.
As soon as he's out the door he see his sister in the driver's seat with the car on, "God I didn't think she would actually do it."
His parent chuckle behind him, and Nanjiro says "well we best be going before she takes off."
They get in the car after kicking Ryumei into the back, and leave for the mall.
In the mall they walk into the salon and make the appointment Rinko set up for Ryumei.
"Okay what are we doing for you today?" the hair stylist asked putting on a black smock so hair won't be all over Ryumei's clothes.
"Ano I would like it shorter in the back about the length of my brothers and longer in the front so it's longer on both sides a little past my shoulders," Ryumei says showing the measurement with her hands.
The hair stylist, "I think we could do that, but it'll look a little boyish on you though, is that okay?"
Ryumei nods, "yes that's actually what I'm hoping for. Also I want to just trim up my bands while I'm here they're getting a little long just down to my eyebrows please."
"Okay miss," the stylist nodding, and starts combing through Ryumei's hair and cutting it.
After it's finished the stylist takes off the smock and ask, "how do you like it?"
Ryumei looks into the mirror, "thank you I like it a lot I think I can pulls this off with this hair style."
The stylist nods, even though she didn't really understand.
Ryumei goes across the room to meet her family, she goes up to Ryoma, "is this how you wanted it?"
Ryoma nods, "you got it just right Ryuu."
Ryumei smiles, and watches her mom go pay for the cut and leave a 5 dollar tip for the stylist.
"Ne, Mei-chan you should call me Nii-chan now that you're in Japan! I miss when you used to call me that all the time," Ryoga says to his little sister.
"Okay Nii-chan!~ I will, now let's pick up my uniform, and leave to get SUSHI!"
"Okay, okay Tenshi one more stop and you can have all the sushi you can eat without getting sick of course," Nanjiro says.
"Otay papa, let's go!" Running ahead of them.
"Ryumei don't run so far and fast, you're going to wear yourself out your already pale today so don't run," Nanjiro says running ahead to catch up to his daughter.
Nanjiro might be known as the porn magazine oyaji but when it comes to his daughter and her illness he over worries at least she thinks he does but in reality she was feeling a little dizzy today.
"Okay papa… sorry if I worried you… I'll admit I am a… little dizzy today," Ryumei says.
"Okay well we'll stop so you can take your medicine and then will go get your uniform," Nanjiro says to his daughter.
Ryumei gets her container of medicine out of her purple plaid purse, and then takes out her coin purse to get a drink out of the vending machine, as her finger hovers the orange ponta button.
"Ne, Ryuu I don't think ponta will help with your medicine," Ryoma says and then pushes the button for water.
"But Ryo, I wanted ponta," Ryumei says pouting but then Ryoma gives her the 'I'm your big brother I know what's best look.'
"Fine," Ryumei then put her medicine in her pout and takes a big gulp of water swallowing the dreadful pills.
Nanjiro then comes up to the siblings and put a hand on both their shoulders, "well let go to get her uniform and then we can go get some sushi."
"Whatever oyaji let's go I'm sure Ryuu's hungry I doubt she's ate anything since she left America," Ryoma says, and his family all nodded and headed to the uniform store to pick up her uniform. Which consisted of black dress pants, a white short sleeve dress shirt and a blue and white tie also a black blazer and a long sleeve white dress shirt for the winter semesters.
"You're starting school tomorrow Ryumei so make sure when we're done for the day you get some sleep," Rinko says.
Ryumei pouts, "I didn't know I started tomorrow and here I was hoping to have a couple days off before I had to go again."
When they're done picking it up and get into the car again and head to the sushi shop meanwhile Ryumei keeps on chanting SUSHI SUSHI in the back ground even though her dad keeps turning up the music to drown her out.
When they get the sushi place, Rinko got a call Ryoma and Ryumei are the first ones to get out and rush inside.
Ryumei then puts on her plaid shirt because she was getting cold as she was buttoning it up they hear, "irashaimase."
Ryoma thinks 'I've heard that voice before, where have I heard it?'
Then an older boy comes into view with brown hair and long side burns comes into view Ryumei looks up at him because he's about as tall has Ryoga.
"Kawamura-sempai?" Ryoma says, stepping in front of Ryumei.
"Hello, Echizen, how are you tonight you out with friend, or family?" Kawamura asks.
"Ano… family sempai this is my twin ugh brother… Ryuu, Ryuu this is my sempai in school Kawamura Takashi," Ryoma introduces them.
Ryuu blushes slightly at the unfamiliar face she bows and says, "Konnichiwa, yoroshikune."
"Yoroshikune Echizen-san," Kawamura says.
After that happens Ryoga comes stomping in, "why'd you leave me behind, that's not very nice. Ugh M-Ryuu-Ryuu."
Looking up seeing Kawamura and switches nicknames.
Ryoma then says, "there will be five of us Kawamura-sempai do you have a table big enough for us?"
"Yeah, do want me to take you now or do you want to wait for the rest of your party?" he asks.
As he asks though their parents walk into the restaurant, "they're here now."
"Okay, this way please Echizen," Kawamura takes them to their table.
As they sit down and look over the menu, Rinko asks "could we all get some black tea please?"
"I'll have that right out for you," Kawamura said.
"Ne, what school is Ryuu going to?" Ryoma asks his parents knowing that he wouldn't be able to get his sister to look up at him for anything.
"Wait she hasn't told you the best in tennis, Rikkaidai," Nanjiro tells Ryoma, Ryoma pouts because that school isn't anywhere near Seigaku.
Ryoga then smirks at Ryoma, "that's not too far from where I'm going, so I can take her to and from school."
"That was another reason, of why we picked the school so if Tenshi has any problems she can call you Ryoga," Rinko told Ryoga.
Kawamura brings the tea, "does everyone know what they want?"
"Yeah, umm… could I have 6 California maki, 2 sake (salmon) rolls, 2 toro (fatty tuna) rolls, 2 tamago (egg), and 2 hotate (scallop) rolls also 2 kani (crab) rolls and 2 amaebi (sweet shrimp) rolls, what's everyone else getting?" Ryumei says, finally looking up from the menu.
Kawamura sweat drops and pales at her order, 'how can anyone that small put away that much food?'
The rest of the family shrugged it off and orders, not even close to as much as the youngest.
Kawamura goes off to make the order with his dad, and the family just talks about their latest tennis matches until the topic lands on Ryumei's appointment in America. As Kawamura is bring the food, he pauses when he hears the question knowing it's a family matter but, he's curiosity won't let him turn around.
"So Mei what did old Dr. Kane say? You're okay right?" Nanjiro asks.
Ryumei then pause looking down at the table, "I told Ryo earlier that he said I can't over exhaust myself or I'll pass out I hate being an anemic. That I can't play tennis for long periods of times I can't play past two hours or I'll pass out and be sick for a few days. And of course I have to keep taking my medicine and iron deficiency vitamins. Also if I do over work myself I could pass out for a long period of time."
"You'll be fine Ryuu, you just got to make sure you take your medicine," Ryoma says.
Ryoga then speaks up, "don't worry I'll be looking out for you Ryuu."
Kawamura then comes over with their sushi putting the right stuff in front of each person, "there you all go can I do anything else for you?"
"No thanks, Kawamura-sempai you can help someone else. We came here to celebrate Ryuu coming back finally from America," Ryoma says.
'Echizen is really talkative around his family,' Kawamura thinks, "is he going to be coming to Seigaku with us?"
The table gets silent and there are glares from the twins towards their dad, Nanjiro says, "n-no Ryuu, is going to Rikkaidai."
"Oh… well Rikkaidai is a really good school," Kawamura says.
Nanjiro then says, "thank you Kawamura, that's why we picked nothing but the best for our Ryuu well we were going to pick Hyotei but Ryuu has a bit of issue with people who are ugh… stuck up or brag about how much money people have because it makes other people feel bad."
Kawamura looks at him, and then bows, "please enjoy your meal, let me know if there is anything else I can get you."
The Echizen family eat there meal all in the amusement of watching the youngest eating all of her food.
Ryumei look up from her food, seeing her family looking at her, "what I'm hungry I haven't ate since Aunt Chiyo made dinner at 6 last night. Well accept for a few packages of pretzels on the plane."
"Nothing just enjoying watching you eat," Ryoma says as the rest of his family just nods with him.
Ryumei just shrugs and goes back to eating. When she finishes she puts her chopsticks down, and claps her hands, "thanks for the food."
She looks up and sees her family's done as well.
They talk for a little bit until Kawamura comes with the check, "here is your check."
Nanjiro gets out his wallet and takes out a couple bills, "you can keep the change because Tenshi here ordered twice as much as the rest of us and you made it fast. You're a good sushi chef Kawamura."
Kawamura blushes and rubs the back of his head, "thank you, Echizen-san."
He takes the check with the bills, telling them to have a good night and they leave.
The Echizen's then go home.
Ryumei takes a quick shower and relaxes in the bath with bath salts, she falls asleep for a few minutes until she hears a knock on the door, "Ryuu, get out I need to take a bath before bed too."
"Okay Ryo I'll be out in a few minute," she says.
Ryumei then gets out of the bath rinses off her body and wraps a towel around her drying her hair with another. She gets dressed into her pajamas with the bat symbol all over them after drying her body.
She goes down stairs, looks at Ryoma reading a tennis magazine on the floor, "ne, Ryo I'm done."
Ryoma nods and goes upstairs to take a bath.
"Ne, papa where's my room?" Ryumei says looking at her dad.
"Oh it's the room next to Ryoma's," Nanjiro says.
"Okay thanks papa, I'm going to go to bed. I have school in the morning say good night to everyone for me," Ryumei says giving her dad a hug around his neck.
Nanjiro smiles as his daughter hugs him, "okay Mei-Mei get some sleep make sure you take your medicine before bed though."
"Okay," Ryumei says going into the kitchen to get a glass of water, and then goes up to her room first stopping in Ryoma's because that's where she dumped all of her stuff.
She sees Ryoga in the hall, "have a good night, Nii-chan. I'll see you in the morning you'll probably have to pull me out of bed."
Ryoga hugs his little sister, "night Tenshi. I'll miss you."

Things about her: she's a bit of a daddy's girl, when Ryoma's not with her she's very shy, she was bullied when she was little for being an anemic when her brother wasn't there to protect her, girls make her uncomfortable, she's in and out of the hospital a lot because she passes out, has dizzy spells, which make her get injured, she was in a coma from being bullied for a while when she was little, her brothers have been scary protective of her since and tend to baby her even when she tries her hardest to fight they tend to be very mother hen with her like Oishi.
In my story Ryoga left because of his aunt; I'll tell you more about it when the story gets farther along.
I hope you liked it, it's my first prince of tennis fanfic which is weird because I've always been addicted to this anime.
