...Who?
Crow could rest easy now.
But, at the same time, nothing would ever be the same anymore.
It was the first time in a long time that the robot didn't have any words to say. Seto had always went on about how much he adored the other's voice, so Crow always tried to make his friend's wish come true by talking as much as he could without making it annoying. And Seto had always enjoyed it.
He had been speaking softly for a while now, watching Seto's eyes flutter closed while he rested in his lap. But Crow knew. He knew Seto would never open those beautiful eyes again.
Crow could rest easy. Seto had passed with a smile on his face from listening to Crow's voice. "Se...to..." he murmured, voice breaking in the middle of the sentence as he stared down at the body of his beloved. He placed a quick kiss on his lips, mouth trembling and wishing for tears to fall even though he knew they wouldn't. "Sweet dreams..."
He held him close, burying his face in the white hair, nuzzling, incomplete sobs wracking his frame. Nothing would ever be the same, but here, sitting like this in the safety of their room, it was as if everything was still the same. As if Seto would open his eyes in a few hours and look up at Crow with a smile.
...But that wouldn't happen. There wouldn't be a person waking up next to him whispering 'Good morning' anymore. No more home-cooked meals.
A hand journeyed across Seto's chest, as if in search of a beat. Crow knew what it felt like from feeling it under his cheek every night as they fell asleep, and he was almost jealous that he didn't have one.
There was no beat.
There would never again be a beat.
Crow buried Seto himself. He couldn't bring himself to trust anyone with the body. He was placed under a beautiful cherry blossom tree, where he could watch all of Tokyo.
Cleaning their house one day, Crow had found the locket Seto used to always carry around with him. It became a habit that he would wear it around his neck, now.
"I'm home, Seto—" he stopped himself short.
Seto wasn't there to greet him anymore.
The reflection in the mirror stared back at him. He lightly moved the locket between his fingers, eyebrow cocked up. Where had he...?
Ah, yes.
Seto.
His one best friend. The person he'd come to love and cherish.
How stupid one must be to be unable to recall such an important thing.
He'd realized that being alone felt...lonely, if there was any better word for it. He lived in a large house all on his own. Neighbors would complain about him 'not aging' and he'd refuse to move, so they'd file some kind of report and police would come. But he never answered. Just hid.
Hid from what?
The truth.
Time and time again he had thought about shutting off his internal system in order to finally get back with Seto, but the thought scared him. Why was he so frightened?
Right. He had someone he didn't want to disappoint.
His beloved.
..."Who?"
Who?
There was a name on the mirror. A name he had written. But why had he written it?
"Se...to...?"
Seto.
...Who?
Thought: Semi-AU where Crow lives and stays with Seto. Seto passes from old age and Crow is left to roam the world. Crow's systems begin to fail and his mind forgets Seto but his heart and body do not.
I'm sorry for all the tragedy as of late. ;u; Trust me, there will be more. I just started playing DRAMAtical Murder.
