'James I won't in today. Can you and Robbie behave and any problems ring me.' Read the text James received from his boss, Jean Innocent.

'Can I ask why you aren't coming in ma'am?' James replied.

'No you can't, I'm the boss, you just have to accept what I tell you.' She would usually have told him first but she could picture his face when he found out and it wasn't something she ever wanted to see. To admit the truth would be admitting her stupidity and Jean Innocent didn't do stupidity.

When Robbie had been a typical man the day before and mentioned that the few grey hairs were a sign of stress, she'd decided to dye her hair for the first time since her teenage years. She'd had some in already for times like this as she knew eventually the greys would be inevitable. At the time though she'd taken the label off of the the dye to hide it from her then husband, she didn't know why she'd done it but she had. Of course it hadn't made dying her hair easy but never had she imagined drying her hair to find it blue.

What she hasn't realised that in the same cupboard as her hair dye was the wash in wash out dye for whenever Chris had a charity day at school.

'We're coming over to check you're okay' James text her and had she not be frantically trying to wash the dye out then she would have seen this and told them in no uncertain terms to leave her alone on day off. Instead though she found them on her doorstep as she'd been trying to dry her hair to see how the washing had affected the colour.

"What the hell have you done ma'am?!" James laughed as he spotted the bright blue hair, showing Jean the look that she could have waited get life to see.

"I think this is what they call a midlife crisis Sargent." Robbie piped up.

"I'm not old enough to have a midlife crisis now are you coming in or am I going to have to kill you for that comment in the street and give my neighbours something else to talk about."

"So blue then?" James began trying to keep a straight face but failing miserably as he burst out laughing again.

"It's not funny, it's your fault Robbie." She told a now very confused Robbie.

"How'd you figure that out?!"

"If you hadn't been a typical male and pointed out the greys then I'd have never dyed my hair!"

"To be fair that still doesn't explain the blue!" James pointed out.

"I picked up Chris's dye that he used for high school charity events by accident and this happened. Only I remember buying wash in wash out for him and I've now washed it 7 times."

"Can you not put another dye on over the top?" Robbie asked.

"Yes if I want some other colour of the rainbow as a hair colour. Anyway why are you two here?"

"We came to check you were okay, James insisted!" Robbie replied as James went a bright shade of red.

"When I said be good for the day it included skiving off work."
