"I'm back."
Naruto stared in disbelief at the man in front of him. He let his hand loosely grip his short sword as he realized what those two words could imply. "Why? To kill me? To destroy Konoha?"
Sasuke put out his hands in a sign of peace. "No. I'm back."
Tears welled in Naruto's eyes. He let go of the sword and walked toward Sasuke, holding back his sobs, and raised his hand to touch him. He needed to be sure this wasn't a joke, a lie.
He suddenly reached up and dragged Sasuke down to his level and hugged him tightly, finally letting the tears fall.
This display moved Sasuke, somehow. He felt tears in his own eyes and hugged him back. "Naruto..."
