He climbed over the wild ferns growing on the worn trail to further track the smell that currently had him searching for its origin. "What is it?" he asked himself, hopping over a fallen tree trunk. As he walked, he noticed a thickening of the air and concluded that he was nearing a body of water. "I think it may be a hot spring," he thought aloud, shallowing his stride while sniffing curiously.
He was right. A few yards ahead of him he saw steam rising from the other side of a line of brush. Peeking over it, he saw the current occupant of the swirling water. It was her; the other girl in the group that traveled with the dog demon. "So she's the one that smells so good," he chuckled and shamelessly stood and started down the slope toward the spring.
His feet entered the water and the sound of him wading startled the slayer. Her eyes widened as she reached for her small katana that lay at the water's edge. Positioning himself between her and her weapon, he swooped down on her, capturing her lips in a kiss. She was surprised at his brazen actions, and when he pulled away she asked, "what are you doing?"
"Why aren't you with your group?" he replied, ignoring her question. "That demon you travel with should be keeping an eye on you. He shouldn't let his females stray."
She pushed against his chest but he only pulled her closer, one hand holding her to him and the other snaking its way underneath the waist-deep water. She could feel him cupping his hand around her backside and pressing her against him, letting her feel his desire for her. He leaned in and slid his lips along her ear. "Big mistake."
