DISCLAIMER: don't own anything so don't sue me T_T

On a whim, one hand reached out to touch the brown hair affectionately. Caught up in a thought, she drew closer to her.

Because on an ordinary summer day, standing together on an ordinary street.

Sachiko Ogasawara was still in love with her not so ordinary love.

She had waited so long to be with her. She smiled softly as she smoothed a tangle from her brown hair.

In the beginning, at first, she couldn't believe that what she'd wished for had come true.

Will you go out with me?

Yumi had said then. In that moment, her heart had pounded. She had resisted the urge to ask her to repeat herself.

But for nights afterward, she would lay awake, thinking about her and what she had said.

It's true…

True…

Yumi

They had been through up and down, tossed left and right, challenged from every side. Broken up and put together again. They had been in love, confused, out of love and then in love again. Every variation of what they could be and couldn't be had played out in a few years span until she thought she might go crazy.

Standing there with her, eating ice cream in the summer heat, she found herself reminiscing about the past that had once been so uncertain.

She barely noticed her ice cream began to melt on her fingers.

Yumi often showed her feelings through her sweet actions and tender words.

But still, at times…inexplicably…

She desperately wanted her to tell her again.

Yumi turned to her now, a quizzical look on her face.

The ice cream cone in her hand dripped on her sleeve, the warm breeze caressed their faces. Brown eyes gazed up at her, her ice cream already eaten while she had had that moment of needing reassurance.

Yumi

"Why are you just standing there not eating? The ice cream is melting on you." The brunette patted her arm with a napkin, a look of concern on her face. Blue eyes watched her, in awe.

Will you really, finally, marry me?

The proof of it glittered on the smaller girl's finger, the diamond on the engagement ring shining brightly in the midday light. Yumi shook her head at her and then poked her in the arm.

"Sachiko, you've been weird all day!" She peered at her. "Have you been getting enough sleep?"

Not really.

Brown eyes narrowed at her expectantly.

Tell me again.

She took the melting ice cream out of her hand and threw it away in the nearest garbage can. "You are working too hard again."

'Cause last night, I couldn't stop thinking about you and me.

Yumi tugged on her arm, lecturing her "When we get married, I'm going to make you take better care of yourself."

Married

The thundering of her heart was soothed.

Realizing that blue eyes were still staring at her, Yumi shook her arm a little.

Lowering her voice she asked. "What's wrong?" She gripped her hands, her eyes widening in concern.

Wrong?

She leaned her forehead against hers.

Nothing…

"I don't like sweets." Sachiko said, her eyes closing briefly.

"Eating ice cream was your idea." She grabbed Sachiko's arm and began pulling her down the street.

"We really shouldn't have wasted the ice cream. But never mind, I think I have something less sweet for you to eat at my apartment."

The older one let herself be tugged along, the pressure on her hand both welcomed and warm.

"I bought the ice cream because you like ice cream." Sachiko said.

They paused at the corner, waiting for the light to turn.

Yumi nodded. "So nothing is wrong? Are you sure?"

"Yes." She replied softly. Yumi turned and smiled up at her.

"Good."

As she took her hand in hers, Sachiko smiled back at her.
