Disclaimer: Obviously I did not write Twilight. If I had, I would be drowning in hot male models by now. Or I'd be dating a pornstar, I dunno I just don't own the Twilight Saga.

Prologue

I don't recall how we even made it to La Push. All I remember was the frenzy it was packing all our belongings into the suitcases. Really it was all not that bad; La Push I mean. Sure it rained and was really a damper on my mood but my family was here.

I'm living with my mother and two little twin brothers; they all seem to intertwine with the family tree nicely. All seem to have black hair and dark skin. I, on the other hand suffered from much more dulled appearances. My chocolaty brown hair and crème skin made me a walking, living, freak in a town like La Push.

Why we all came to La Push has been very clear; for family and that's it. Family is very important to me; it was practically instilled on me to feel so. Family means everything, with that being said it was no surprise that when my grandmother came down with Alzheimer's that we all rushed down to La Push to her aid. My mother was a very herbal type of person when it came to medicine and doctors, so it was a completely new experience for her when my uncle forced her to get the help of doctors for grandma.

"Darla, please go get Nathan and Damian ready for school!" Mom shouted down the stairs. I was just in the middle of eating a pop tart when the farts decided to attack me with chants of gibberish and ramblings of knights and dragons. I swiftly picked up Nathan, leaving his bottom resting on my hip as we went to get fruit loops from the cupboard. He was five years old and still seemed to need more attention than any other kid I'd ever known. He thrived when being cuddled and cooed when being kissed. Damian on the other hand was completely different. He resented being "babied" and screamed when he was given anything other than "adult food".

"Dar, we get to go to school today!" Damian said, flashing a bright smile.

"Yeah, I heard about that. You aren't scared of the older kids, are you?"

"No! Being scared is for babies!" Damian thrashed his fist up in the air and pretended to be a superhero. After his façade was over, he sat down and started gobbling down his cereal. "Nate is scared though!"

"No I'm not!" Nathan protested; clutching onto his teddy bear with such force that you would think the kid just suffered a traumatic experience.

I glanced at my cell phone, "C'mon guys we're going to be late! Get your backpacks!"

We all ran out the door, half naked without our winter jackets. Damn, I forgot about how cold La Push could actually be.

"It's so cold, Dar." Nathan complained, running up the road.

"Are we there yet?" Damian stammered, already shivering.

The silence on the dirt road suddenly became still. There was a rustling in the forest beside us, and two round, brown eyes appeared through the shadows. In that split second I saw them, they were gone. Swallowing, I pushed it off- I was probably just hallucinating, right? Crazy didn't seem too far from a reasonable explanation. Hell, it was the only explanation.

You've read it, now I must say reviews are greatly appreciated. So are chocolate, book store gift cards, and the occasional puppy. But seriously though, I don't bite. But I will if you're into that sort of thing.
