Darkness vs Light
"I love you" his words still rang in her ears. She hadn't been able to move for the last twenty minutes. Twenty minutes which seemed to be like an eternity. Twenty minutes since his green dot had dissapeared from her computer screen.
After Jimmy had died, Chloe had embraced the darkness like a warm blanket. She had turned Watchtower in a safe place, a fortress only she and those she allowed, had acess to. She had built up those walls - both emotionally and physically - to protect herself. To protect herself from the pain and the emptyness that had followed these tracig events. The numbness, she had been able to deal with, but the pain and the emptyness would have destroyed her - that she was sure of.
So she had done what she did best - she had looked out for her team and although it had taken her quite a while she had brought them back - one by one.
Sure they were still spread all over the world, but they were a team again nonetheless.
Having her "family" back, had been a huge relief for Chloe. Now the search for them had been over, she had thrown herself into work for the team. She had coordinated their missions and had solved smaller and bigger problems for them. The latter more welcoming, because they had kept her busier and had allowed her to block out the memories of Jimmy and her former life - which had included her still intact friendship with Clark.
But then she and Oliver - Oliie - had happened and her so carefully but strongly built up wallshad crumbled down
In the beginning it had just been fun - a non string relationship. The sex had been incredible and for once in a very long time, Chloe had felt content and at ease.
When they had been at the Mc Dougal Inn, she had realized the change in their non relationship - the change in Oliver's attitude towards her. Of course he was always attentive, but when he had bought her that spoon and had very much confirmed he was over Lois, she had recognized the shift in their relationship - and it had scared her.
From that weekend on they hadn't only shared a bed together - although most of the time this wasn't the place where their favorite indoor activity took place anyway - but more of their - very much limited - free time. He often surprised her with lunch - her favorite take out food - or self - made home diners at the Clocktower.
And after Checkmate it had been crystal clear that his feelings for her had changed and although she had been scared to death after he had been taken by Checkmate, she hadn't been ready to admit that her feelings toward him had changed, too. She hadn't been ready to leave the safety her self - chosen prison.
So she had continued to hide behind her computers , to hide behind Watchtower, but Oliver hadn't given up and slowly but steadily he had brought down her so carefully constructed walls. A text message here and there made her feel warm inside and made her smile.
After Tess and Zod had happened, she had known she had fallen for him. as she had sat next to his bed, caressing his cheek with her thumb and listening to his heartbeats over the monitors, she had accepted the fact, that he had taken down her walls, but she hadn't been ready to give herself fully to him yet.
The last few days she had realized, that he had struggled to tell her what he was feeling for her, but she had always managed to brush him off.
The satellite and his last kiss had taken her off guard though and when she replied "I love you" she had meant it. She did love him, she had fallen for him, so hard that there was no longer denying it. And although she was terrified, now his green dot had vanished from her screen, she composed time she wouldn't loose the man she loved. This time she would fight and do everything in her power and above to find him and to bring him back to her.
This time she wouldn't allow the darkness to take over her.
This time she would embrace the light.
