He ought to be used to the way Athena captures him off guard, but each time he does, Simon jumps, heart accelerating in shock. He acknowledges fully well of her hearing ability, never being able to disguise his emotions from her completely.
This time, she plops on the couch's arm rest, somewhat higher than him, now that he's resting properly on the couch, slinging an arm around his broad shoulders. "Simon!" Before he can interject, his chin is pressed frontward, facing ahead of him, gray eyes now examining the peculiar device in her gloved palm. All he envisions now are both of their reflections mirroring themselves on the screen. Athena tilts her head slightly, that wide smile gracing her lips as she orders, "Say cheese!"
"What, pray tell, Athena, are we doing?" The prosecutor notices her smile waver, gazing down at him through the screen's image.
Athena glowers, using her free hand to point to the touch screen of the device in her possession, and then pushes one of the corners of his lips upward. "We're taking a selfie. Now smile for the camera!"
"A what?"
"Cheese!"
Click!
He blinks as the young lawyer jerks the cell phone towards her, gazing at the picture it has taken, and sighs in defeat. "I asked you to smile, not scowl."
"My apologies," Simon remarks, a nonchalant shrug following suit. "But these 'self-yees' that you speak of are alien to me." Truth be told, his time in the clink has him with almost no vast knowledge of the technological advances mankind has offered, leaving him puzzled at the majority of what he stumbles upon that isn't a laptop or older cell phone models.
Sulking, a hand smacks to her forehead in downfall. "Self-ees," she sounds out to correct him with a shake of her head, "and it's what it is – a self-portrait photograph." But upon seeing his facial expression, she groans, slipping her phone away. "Never mind, we'll try this a different time."
Perhaps Taka and I should bestow in these selfies… Simon thinks tentatively as he observes the redhead blowing strands of bangs from her eyes.
