First one-shot, ever!
Cammie sat in her favorite passageway, behind the Gallagher crest sign, sobbing her heart out. She was scared; of herself and of her new life. Her hands were now tainted. They knew how to kill; when her mind hadn't. Her normal and safe sanctuary is now gone… Forever.
As she continued to cry about her now broken life, Cammie heard footsteps slowly coming toward her. As she forcibly stopped herself from crying, she realized there was only one set of footsteps. Mentally, Cammie braced herself to attack, safely. She hid away behind the only entrance, and exit in the passageway. And, waited.
As the footsteps inched their way over in a steady pace, Cammie jumped out and tackled her enemy, bringing herself and her enemy down.
"Wow, Gallagher Girl, never thought you had it in you," A deep and familiar voice teased.
Instantly, Cammie jumped off, startled and embarrassed.
"Zach, what are you doing here? It's 4:00 am," Cammie whispered angrily, guarding her words with hidden emotion.
"You know, Gallagher Girl, I should be the one asking you that," Zach replied looking hurt.
"I can't sleep. I can't forget it Zach, I've done so many evil things," Cammie stuttered, angry that her voice had cracked and she was sniffling once again.
Instantly, Zach's cool demeanor shed and his true feelings shined through. He was worried, and angry. Why did only Cammie have to suffer through so much pain and agony? Why couldn't it have been him?
"It's not your fault, Cams," Zach softly whispered, almost as if he were trying to convince himself, rather than her.
"Yes it is! If I hadn't done those things, I wouldn't be in this wretched predicament!" Cammie screamed out. It was as if that innocent and naïve Cammie from only a year ago was gone, and a new, scared, and hopeless Cammie took over her place.
Zach was speechless; he couldn't help the girl in front of him that he has and always will, like. Possibly even love. He failed to protect and shield her from the scary and cruel world that lay outside the Gallagher Academy walls. And his price was watching Cammie as she slowly broke down in agony and sorrow.
Watching her was so painful and scary. Zach wanted to protect her even more, now that he saw her so weak. He wanted her to recover as quickly as possible. He wanted her to tell him that all these sad and lonely events were just a sick and twisted joke.
But, it wasn't a joke; at all. And, all Zach could do was watch Cammie silently. But, inside his heart, Zach knew that this wasn't true. Zach knew; he could help Cammie. Help show her who she was before all these traumatizing events occurred.
So, as the fragile and petite girl who was once so confident and strong continued to cry, Zach reached out, and hugged her. He put all his emotions in one single hug. The emotion of happiness, every time he was able to see Cammie smile; of loneliness as Cammie deserted him to protect everyone from pain; of anger as he saw Cammie bruised and scarred, forever; of love as he saw Cammie try to pretend as if nothing happened and try to stay strong; and of his content as he knew that Cammie was here, breathing, living.
And, as the girl in his arms slowly sobbed herself to sleep; Zach started to cry, himself. For everything that's worth something. He cried so that later on in his life, he wouldn't cry when he looked back to the past.
And thus, as the sun lifted itself from its sad slumber, Zach swore to himself, that he will never leave Cammie and he will never let Cammie leave him ever again, either.
THE END
Did I fail at trying to make this sad? Don't worry. I won't do this often the mood just struck me, you know? Please Review!
