Kitty sighed and closed her eyes. He didn't remember. It was so obvious and yet…Kitty hoped there would be slight recognition.

Johnny Taylor had been her best friend…ever since she was 2 years old. They were separated when they were 10 years old. He was put into care, and shortly after, so was Kitty.

He was the only one who ever knew her story. Her memories with him were the only thing keeping her from losing her sanity right now.

"Why don't you like your dad?" 5 year old Johnny asked, as he and Kitty sat alone on a wall in the playground, long after school had finished.

"Because…he calls me things…really bad things. And then…he hits me…and hurts me…" 5 year old Kitty replied. A tear appeared and soon she was crying freely.

Johnny shuffled closer to her and put her hand in his. "I'll protect you." He promised.

5 years later…

"JOHNNY! NO!" Kitty screeched, struggling against her mother's hold.

Johnny was struggling too, as well as his sister Tee.

"No! You PROMISED!" Kitty shouted.

"I'll be back, I promise!" the ten year old boy shouted, while the same ten year old girl began to cry as they drove off with her best friend.

How could he forget her?

Kitty sighed as she walked downstairs. She'd already explained that she was over the no-touch stage.

She pulled a picture out of her pocket. Her and Johnny, 10 years old, a month before he was taken away.

"Kitty." Johnny said, resting a hand onto her shoulder.

Kitty turned round. "Hi…"

"I remember." He said quietly. "3 years ago. We were separated."

Kitty suddenly choked, putting the picture into Johnny's hands before hugging him.

He hugged her back and kissed the top of her head. "I promised, didn't I? I'll protect you."
