When Doug came into the kitchen that morning, Jack was at it again with Amy. "Dada, dada." He was trying to get her to say her first word.

Doug just shook his head and laughed. "She's not going to do anything if you keep pushing her Jack." he came over to lightly kiss Amy on her head of golden curls, then plant one on Jack. "Morning."

"Morning." Jack returned not taking his eyes off his daughter. To say he was determined would be quite the understatement. Lily was all ready ahead of her, Gail loved to rub it in his face. Then again, Lily had a few years on Amy. She was still just a baby after all. Amy would catch up. He was just helping her along.

Doug could see that Jack fixed the coffee. He helped himself to a cup. "You did actually feed our daughter right?" he joked.

"Uh-huh," Couldn't the sheriff see the lovely mess that Amy left behind for them. Apparently, she was not too keen on eggs or anything for breakfast for that matter. She got that from her mother. Jen wasn't a breakfast eater either. She went straight for the coffee. However, given the fact that Amy was way too young for coffee, Amy would just have to deal.

Jack sighed with frustration and leaned back in his chair. "Can't you say it for daddy before I have to go to work?" he pleaded. "Please?"

"How is that working for you Jack?"

"Shut up," Jack retorted playfully.

"Like I said-"

"Hey, if she's anything like her mom, I can talk her into anything." Of course, Jack would get payback for that. He wouldn't be able to see it but Amy would.

"Momma!"

Jack's jaw nearly dropped. "Did you hear that! She spoke!"

Doug laughed. "Yeah, she said momma. I don't think that's you. Not unless there is something you haven't told me." Doug took another sip of his coffee.

"That doesn't make sense," Jack muttered. "Amy knows who her momma is, I show her pictures all the time, but I don't have any…" That's when he trailed off. He looked around him, expecting to see Jen hovering around him with a smirk on her face. She wasn't though.

"Momma." Amy repeated. "Momma! Momma! Momma!" Once she got going, Amy couldn't stop. She seemed proud of herself.

"I guess this makes you mom." Doug teased.

Jack would ignore that. He went for Amy, picked her up and handed her to Doug. "For that, you can clean her up."

"Spoiled sport." he called.

"Dada." Amy called Doug as she went to play with his tie. "Dada."

"That's just wrong on so many levels!" Jack pointed. He went to finish getting ready.

Doug couldn't resist himself. "Don't make yourself late. Mom."

"Momma!" Amy followed with a giggle. "Momma!"

As Jack went to surrender into his room he could swear he heard Jen's laughter echoing in back of his ear.
