Kitty suddenly put her arms around Carmen and hugged her tightly. Her best friend was crying hard and Kitty had never seen Carmen cry before.
Carmen's crush on Rick had been announced to everyone by Lily. Carmen had run out and Kitty had followed her.
Johnny was there too; his arm was around Carmen like Kitty had hers around her friend. Johnny didn't feel romantic feelings for Carmen, but he and Kitty cared for Carmen very much.
"Carmen…?"
It was Rick. Carmen froze and tilted her head back to look at him.
Rick took in her distraught and very wet face and his expression softened.
Johnny made a gesture and he and Kitty got up and walked back inside together, holding hands.
"So…Lily had your diary?" Rick said, sitting beside Carmen.
Carmen nodded. "I'm sorry." She sobbed.
"Why would you be sorry…?" he asked.
"Because…I never told you and…now you probably hate me because I'm nowhere near good enough for you, and…" but before Carmen could say anything else Rick interrupted her.
By crashing his lips to hers, to be more specific. Carmen let out a small squeak of surprise, but let her eyes flicker shut and her hands rest on his shoulders.
Rick's arms wrapped themselves around Carmen's waist, pulling her closer to him as they kissed. He pulled away but his face was still close. "You were saying?"
"Just shut up and kiss me." Carmen said, pulling him into another kiss.
