Disclaimer: I do not anything from Doctor Who, except some really cool merchandise I've bought.
She was strange, she was curious and most of all she was foolish.
Did she not realize the thing that stood in chains in front of her? Did she not know how its kind destroyed millions of lives and was still bloodthirsty for more? Of course the Earth child didn't. Because if she did surely wouldn't have looked at the being before her not with hatred but with…concern.
Yes…that is what the Doctor called it. A weak emotion that meant a human cared for you. "Compassion is your weakness!" is what they told him and they all believed it. Compassion will be the Doctor's doom.
Yet, a single touch from the yellow human girl…and the chains fell.
She staggered back, stunned, and it would have been so easy to exterminate her. So, so easy…but the being in the metal shell couldn't. Such a ridiculous notion; of course it could kill. It had killed hundreds, thousands! And it had been beautiful!
But those eyes…
The Earth child stared at him. The being expected fear, and there was a look of surprise on her face. But her eyes did not fear the monster before her.
It made the monster pause; made it stare at the human child every time her back was turned as they ventured through the halls. A maddening emotion filling the creature every time he looked at the human girl. It filled the being in the shell to the point of agony when she stopped the Oncoming Storm in his tracks. A little insignificant human did what they in the number of thousands never could!
Perhaps that is why, even though it knew the girl had given it cause to end its life, the Dalek could not hate Rose Tyler.
She was too kind.
