Tumblr Prompt: Blam as the Beauty and the Beast. [by angellovercriss]
Trapped in this castle was no easy feat. It sure felt nice to be a prince and all, but the curse put on Blaine by a wicked haggard witch made it impossible for him to be able to be social with anyone. Turning down the witch's invitation to stay in his castle didn't seem deserving of having been turned into a literal beast. Ashamed of his new appearance, Blaine conceals himself inside his castle with a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world, and an enchanted rose that would act as the curse's timer which would bloom until he turns 21. If Blaine could learn to love and earn love in return before the final petal fell off the rose, the curse would be broken, but if not he would remain a beast forever. That, and all sorts of anthropomorphic servants to make things even more bizarre and jarring. Harsh.
One night, there's a strange noise from the east side entrance. Blaine goes to investigate and is immediately outraged. There she was, a random, strange old woman.
"HOW DARE YOU TRESPASS MY CASTLE," growled Blaine, his fur standing up in anger and his fangs ferociously tightening on his jaw.
"I'm sorry…please allow me to stay the night. I've lost my way, and the storm is much too strong out there for an old timer like me," begged the old lady.
Flashes of the old witch lady crossed his mind, but he shook them quickly from the forefront of his brain.
"ENOUGH OF THIS NONSENSE! LOCK HER UP!" Blaine demanded of his loyal servants, now in the form of a candle, a pendulum clock, and a tea pot, named Lumiere, Cogsworth, and Mrs. Potts, respectively. They quickly obliged and escorted the old lady to a cold, dark cell.
"Don't you think that's a little rash, sir?" asked Lumiere hesitantly.
"We haven't had any visitors in quite some years, my liege," Mrs. Potts pointed out. "We could really use a little human connection."
"I'm sorry for my temper," Blaine began. "It's been so long since anyone stepped foot in this castle, I just don't know how to be human anymore."
Blaine stared into his furry paws and sharp claws, and began to think he would be stuck in this form forever.
"No matter. Keep her locked up indefinitely until I decide what to do with her!" Blaine snapped at his followers.
Blaine retreated to his quarters on the west wing, where no one was ever allowed to enter. As he entered the room, his eyes fixated on the floating magical rose enclosed in a glass dome. Each night he stared at this enclosed rose and saw it become ever so close to dying. He would be 21 in a few weeks, and there was no foreseeable hope in sight. As with every other night since becoming cursed, Blaine fell asleep with tears in his eyes.
Blaine awoke to a sudden commotion from the opposite wing in the castle. He found his magical mirror and commanded it to show him what was going on. Blaine stared at the mirror and he couldn't believe what he was seeing.
At the entrance was the most beautiful man Blaine had ever laid eyes on. He was of fair height; his body looked to be well-toned, pretty blond hair, juicy lips, and inescapably mesmerizing green eyes. He listened in to this gorgeous man's conversation with Lumiere, Cogsworth, and Mrs. Potts, and he gathered that this beautiful human's name was Sam. Blaine felt an extremely warm sensation inside of him. It was warmth unlike anything he's ever felt before, and it was emanating from deep inside his furry chest. His heart began to beat fast, and this strange feeling was equally blissful and terrifying.
Blaine checked himself out in the mirror before deciding to make his presence known. He attempted to fashion his bushy eyebrows, but to no avail. His mane was in knots, and there was no way of making his appearance any more presentable. Anger began to rise from deep inside his stomach, but he calmed himself down by taking deep, long breaths. You can do this, Blaine, he thought to himself. Just be cool.
He made his way through the castle and his eyes locked in with Sam's. Blaine could've died, and he would've been the happiest beast in the world. You can't let him see you being weak, Blaine asserted inside his own mind.
"What is the meaning of your presence, peasant?" Blaine snarled at Sam.
"Please, sir. I've gathered from your..candle…that you have an old lady as a prisoner." Sam spoke softly, hoping to appease the scary beast in facing him. "That woman is my grandmother. She is very ill, and she needs to get back to town to rest properly and get better."
"No one leaves!" growled Blaine, scared that word of his existence would spread and cause uproar.
"I beg of you," pleaded Sam. "Please, keep me prisoner instead, and let my grandmother go."
That's perfect, thought Blaine. This old lady was harmless, and she wouldn't be any more trouble. By keeping Sam as his prisoner, he could try to at least figure what these sudden feelings were. Plus, the way Sam was making those puppy dog eyes made it simply impossible for Blaine to say no.
"Fine. Carriage, take this woman back to town at once!" Blaine instructed, as a carriage came to life and took the lady away. He then turned his attention to Sam. "You stay here in her place until I know what to do with you."
"But, master, such a nice gentleman shouldn't be kept in such conditions," said Mrs. Potts in a hopeful voice.
"She's right," began Lumiere. "We have perfectly empty rooms he could stay in."
"I generally don't agree with these two, but I think they're right this time, sir" chimed in Cogsworth.
If Cogsworth agrees with Potts and Lumi, then they must be right. Also, Blaine couldn't really imagine keeping such a beauty locked up for no reason.
"Very well. Show him to his room. But do not lose sight of him! And DO NOT let him near my wing." Blaine instructed menacingly at his subjects before swiftly leaving back to his room.
Blaine pulled out his trusty mirror and watched intently as his subjects gave Sam a tour of the castle. Sam seemed to be particularly enthralled by the library. Sam's eyes gleamed with joy at the sight of the thousands of books available to read. There he goes again, he's so peculiar.
"I absolutely adore reading a good book" Sam said to the rest of the group as they giggled at his sheer fascination. "You must think I'm odd" he added with a little giggle.
What is going on with me? Blaine was lost in his thoughts suddenly. I've never felt this way before. Is this…love? What else could it be? But Sam could never love me. I can't seem to control my temper. Besides…he's so beautiful, and, well, look at me! I'm an atrocity.
In the mirror, Lumiere and Potts were allowing Sam to settle into his new room. There was a knock at Blaine's door. It was Cogsworth.
"What is it!?" Blaine yelled, mildly embarrassed to be caught off guard due to his daydreaming about Sam.
"Sire, might you want to invite our guest for dinner?"
"Just tell him to go to the dining room and wait for me."
"It might be best if those words came straight from you, my liege."
"Why?"
"We noticed the way you are around him. Perhaps dinner can be a nice icebreaker."
Blaine contemplated his right-hand man's suggestion, and decided that maybe this would be a good idea after all. He made his way to Sam's room and stood just outside the door. Lumiere and Potts provided some hand gestures for encouragement, and Blaine took a deep breath before proceeding. The door was ajar, so he gently began to open it.
And there he was. Blaine couldn't stop staring. Sam had taken his shirt off, so he stood shirtless in front of the bed, apparently trying to decide what shirt to wear from the options he was given. Sam was facing ninety degrees away from Blaine, to where he hadn't yet noticed Blaine's presence. Gosh, he's such a beautiful man. Such broad shoulders. Tight looking muscles. He couldn't be any more perfect…As Blaine was beginning to lose himself in animalistic daydreams, he began to drool. Literally.
"Um…yes?" questioned Sam, a little afraid that a man-beast was staring at him without saying a word.
Blaine was utterly embarrassed. He fumbled with words for a second, and then he cleared his throat.
"Um….do you want to…are you…are you hungry?" Blaine managed to get the word out finally.
"I'm not really hungry at the moment, but perhaps—" Sam began, but was suddenly cut off by Blaine.
"FINE" Blaine growled in rising anger. "Suit yourself."
And with that, Blaine left, embarrassed that he got caught staring, and that he couldn't control his anger at the fact that he was embarrassed about getting caught staring. It was all becoming one cyclical problem.
Blaine scrammed his room as fast as he could. He sat with his back against his door, and began to hyperventilate. Get a hold of yourself. If you keep this up, you're going to ruin everything. You could never be happy, let alone make anyone happy, with that kind of attitude.
His mirror showed that Sam had decided to partake in dinner after all. It looks like Lumi, Cogs, and Potts had begun an elaborate routine welcoming Sam into the dining hall. Blaine smiled when he saw Sam smile. And there it was again: that fast-paced heart beating. OK…I can do this. I can change. I WILL change. For him.
Blaine made his way into the dining area, and watched his servants parade in sing-song fashion around Sam. He waited until the finale of the musical number, and he jumped in with his own belted version of "Be Our Guest!"
Everyone was in awe at how beautiful Blaine's voice was. It shouldn't have come as a surprise to his subjects, as all proper princes are classically trained in song and dance. But Sam seemed to be the most surprised of them all, but pleasantly so. Sam smiled, and complimented Blaine on the wonderful entrance.
"Thank you, Sam," Blaine began. "I apologize for being so rough the past few hours. I haven't had any visitors in years, and, well, I had begun to forget my own humanity."
And, as Cogs had predicted, dinner was indeed the greatest of icebreakers. The conversation at the dinner table turned into many more days of conversation as Blaine and Sam began to get to know each other better. Soon, Sam discovered that underneath the animalistic, rough façade was a very gentle and gentile person within Blaine. He could sense his humanity slowly coming through as the days went by, and he was genuinely enjoying spending time with Blaine
Blaine was cautious about sharing his past with Sam, but as soon as he did, he was glad. Not only was Sam a very beautiful, but he was a very careful listener and seemed to really care about the things he spoke about. Blaine was soon opening up completely to Sam, and Sam seemed to reciprocate.
One afternoon, they found themselves deeply entrenched in a snowball fight. Though it was playful, Sam had really turned out to be pretty competitive. So much so, that he had begun laying traps for Blaine and Blaine kept falling for them. Playfully upset, Blaine tackled Sam to the ground and his paws tangled with Sam's hands.
"I told you that you were going to pay for your tricks, Sam" Blaine growled playfully.
"Oh, no" Sam said, in an obviously fake distressed tone. "Please don't hurt me, Mr. Beast!"
Time seemingly stood still as Sam and Blaine remained motionless, staring into each other's eyes. Neither was bold enough to make a move, so they simply sat in comfortable silence for a few moments before Blaine released Sam and they dusted snow off of themselves, nothing but silly smiles on their faces.
"SAAAAAAAMMMMM!" a loud voice came from outside the castle walls.
Blaine climbed the side walls and peered into the exterior perimeter and spotted and angry crowd of townspeople, led by a muscular, fashionable man.
Sam was petrified. He knew who the man was: Gaston. He was viewed by the town as the most handsome man, and also as the most talented, as he was extremely proficient at hunting. Gaston had been obsessed with Sam's beauty, and he had insisted profusely that they get married on many occasions. It seems that Sam's grandmother must've told someone in town that a beast had captured Sam, and that's why Gaston convinced the town to rally into a coup attempt at the castle.
The townspeople began to trample inside the castle, and a huge war began between them and the hundreds of anthropomorphic beings. Gaston managed to get ahead of everyone, and targeted Blaine.
"I will kill you, and rescue my future husband, you horrid beast!" exclaimed Gaston as he lunged towards Blaine.
Blaine fought Gaston valiantly, but Gaston began to get the best of him. Eventually, Gaston was able to puncture Blaine with his javelin. Sam screamed Blaine's name as tears began to run down his face. With Blaine down, Gaston made a move for Sam, and grabbed him by the hand and began to drag him away. Sam protested and struggled, but Gaston was just strong enough to out-braun him.
Ignited by Sam's struggle, Blaine rose from the wet, cement floor and tackled Gaston. Gaston threw a punch aimed at Blaine's head, but missed, allowing Blaine to get the upper hand. Blaine took the opportunity to bite Gaston's arm. Gaston screamed and Blaine head-butted Gaston forward, propelling him down a steep fall down into an uncertain destiny.
Exhausted and weak, Blaine collapsed on the floor. Sam rushed to his side, and checked on him. Blaine knew his time was soon coming. He could barely keep his eyes open.
"Sam," Blaine whispered weakly. "Thank you for staying with me for the past few weeks. I never thought I'd get to meet someone as wonderful as you."
"Don't say things like that," Sam pleaded. "Stay with me."
"I don't have much time. I can feel it. Just know…I….love….you." Blaine managed to get the words out before his energy depleted completely.
"I love you too, Blaine," Sam said, as he began to weep.
The clock struck midnight, and Sam gave Blaine a kiss on the lips. He continued to plead Blaine to come back, but Blaine didn't respond.
After a few moments, a bright light shone from the skies. Blaine's body began to rise, levitating from the ground. He began transforming among the light, and Blaine slowly turned from beast to man once more. At last, he had returned to the man he once was. The dark hair prince adjusted his bowtie before addressing Sam.
"Sam…you've broken the curse" Blaine said.
"You are even more beautiful than I could've ever imagined, Blaine. I'm so lucky to have met you" Sam said back.
Blaine got down on one knee and asked, "Sam, will you be my eternal prince?"
"Only if you'll be mine, my love."
And they lived happily ever after.
