AN: I really debated posting this. I really just wrote this to help get out of my writers block, but it worked I guess.
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha.
Blood drips down her face. It wasn't supposed to happen like this. They were supposed to have a happy ending, like all fairy tales. All this is really is a dream, a fairy tale. She was supposed to marry her price and live happily ever after.
Drip. Drop. Drip. Drop. Blood trickles down her face, as if taunting her. A painful reminder of what happened, and what should have happened. A permanent frown was etched in her face, and normally bright blue eyes became as dull as the clouds above her. It just started raining. She was glad, the rain would cry for her. She had forgotten how to cry, and, how to feel.
What was the point of living? She had lost everyone and everything, even sweet, adorable Shippo. A shadow, is all she is now. He died, protecting her. He was so cocky and arrogant if only he had listened to her pleas.
FLASHBACK
"No! You'll get yourself killed!" she had shouted in between sobs.
"Don't worry Kagome." he said wiping the tears off her face. "Naraku is no match for me!" he boasted, smirking.
"You can't do this." she whispered. "He will kill you."
"You believe in me, right Kagome?" he asked.
"Of course!" Kagome shouted.
"Then believe me when I say this. I swear Naraku will die today." he said, his voice turning strangely serious.
"Ok, I trust you." she said, her eyes still wet from tears.
"Kagome, I love you. I just wanting you to know that incase anything happened." he confessed, taking off for the last time.
'He loves me?' she had asked herself. I smile grew on her face. 'I have to tell him, before he goes out to battle!' She thought with determination.
After running through the forest at a speed that could rival slower demons, Kagome reached the clearing. She gasped at what she saw. Everyone was dead, except Bankotsu and Inuyasha. Quickly, she hid behind a tree before anyone could see her.
As Inuyasha was about to deliver the final blow, Naraku plunged his tentacle into Inuyasha's heart.
Kagome gasped in terror as he slowly collapses onto the hard ground.
Tears begin to pour freely from her eyes. Holding on to the tree, she grabs an arrow and fires it right as Bankotsu swings his Banryuu at him.
A massive ball of energy engulfs the entire area. After the light subsided, Kagome looked around. Nothing was left. Just Naraku's chunk of the jewel, and Bankotsu's shards.
END FLASHBACK
She hadn't moved an inch from the spot she had been from that tragic day. She killed him, it was all her fault.
All she did was just sit there numbly staring in space. Why had this happened to her, so kind and innocent? Now, she was all alone in the world, no one was left. They had defeated the enemy in return for what? They had worked so hard, while she just sat there, cowering behind a tree. They deserved to live, not her.
She might as well be dead. She couldn't feel, emotionally, or physically. Starring off into space was the only thing she could do. All that was left of her was an empty soul. Hollow, like her heart. If only… She thinks.
It wasn't supposed to happen this way. Her life was a dream come true, but now it's just an aweful nightmare.
Finally. She thought, for the first time in years, or days, she wasn't sure, a small ghost of a smile appeared on her lips. It hurt, her face wasn't used to moving that way. That tiny smile stayed on her lips until she took her last breath, her eyes closing shut. At last, she had woken up from that terrible nightmare. Kagome's last thought as her heart stopped its final beat was, I'll get to see you again, Bankotsu.'
