Lettuce was on her way to the book store to buy "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn". She went through the park to take a short cut. Lettuce walked by the center tree, of the park, and she saw this funny looking dog. The dog came running to her, as soon as he was done with his business. "Hello there" said Lettuce. The dog barked and wagged his tail furiously. Lettuce notice the dog's tag, it said "Max. Owner Mat. "That's it. I suppose our owner isn't that smart." Lettuce started to play fetch with max. At one point she threw a ball, one that Max found, backwards and Max jumped over her to get it.
Max seemed to have more energy than any dog she's ever seen. Lettuce was tired and starting to get hungry. Max on the other hand looked restless. "Max, I'm only going to throw it one more time OK." With that she threw the stick as hard as she could, unfortunately she hit a guy. The mysterious fell to the ground, conscious. Max ran over to the guy and started to lick his face. Lettuce ran over to him and said "Sorry. I just threw this stick to this cute dog. Again sorry" The guy stood up, with his hand on his head, and said "You mean my dog and its ok. Max usually gets into mischief and gets me into worse situations." Said Mat.
Lettuce was actually stunned that Mat was actually smart, and a bit cute. She stared at him for 4 seconds. Mat just shrugged and turned away, and began to walk. "Wait!" Said Lettuce. "I'm Sorry I just thought you were…… well dumber than this." Said Lettuce. Mat chuckled. Lettuce in response said "Why are you laughing?" "No, it's just that I've never heard that before ' I thought you were dumber than this' it brings me back to earth you know." Said Mat.
They began to laugh, but before Lettuce could say anything a group of guys yelled "Come on Mat let's go!" Mat turned around and said "Be right there guys." He turned back to Lettuce and said " I have to go, but you can meet me in the bookstore tomorrow at 3:00 P.M. Nice meeting you." Her smiled and turned around; leaving Lettuce with more questions than before she met him.
