The title has nothing to do with the story... just a random poster I came across in school and it sorta inspired me... a1's "One More Try" blasted out of the radio in Kenshin's room. Kenshin was sitting at his desk trying to do the day's homework.

Listening to the song made him remember what happened between Kaoru and himself a few days back.

~~**Flashback**~~

"Kaoru, wait." Kenshin grabbed her wrist. "Why are you like this ?"

"What do you mean by why am I like this ?! You're the one who started it in the first place !" she whirled around with tears in her eyes, pushed him away and started running in the opposite direction.

"No ! Kaoru, wait !" Kenshin yelled and ran after her.

Kaoru was standing at a bridge overlooking the park, slouching slightly, her chin cradled in her hands, her eyes a little red and puffy; it was obvious that she had been crying a few moments ago.

Kenshin approached her from behind and slowly hugged her. "Kaoru." he whispered softly into her ear. "Its all a big misunderstanding."

Kaoru pushed him away again. "Misunderstanding my ass ! You call hugging another girl a misunderstanding ?! You have no idea how I-" her sentence was cut off when Kenshin abruptly pressed his lips onto hers. She struggled for a while, but melted in his grasp soon after. They broke off, Kenshin lightly caressing her cheek with the back of his hand.

"It is a misunderstanding Kaoru."

"Don't think I'll forgive you after just one kiss Himura Kenshin." she took on her strong front again.

"That girl was my sister Kaoru." Kenshin bent down and whispered into her ear softly, his warm breath causing her skin to prickle without her knowing.

"Kenshin no baka. You should've told me earlier." Kaoru said as she collapsed into his embrace. Kenshin smiled. "I love you Kaoru." he whispered again.

I tried so hard, and got so far. In the end, it doesn't even matter. I had to fall, to lose it all. But in the end, it doesn't even matter....

Kenshin grinned in mid-stretch. The end wasn't here yet... not for him anyway. There was hope as long as they were alive.
