She stood with her hand on her hips, her blue eyes glaring at the sleeping form of her husband. She had found him asleep in his books yet again this morning, and although it was always cute, her patience with him was coming to an end after a half hour of calling, poking, prodding, tickling, and yelling had proven every one of her attempts to wake him futile.

Her bottom lip jutted out and began to tremble. She would not go to bed without him! She would not face her nightmares without the warm, reassuring embrace of his comforting arms! She would have him hold her this day before she had to get up and fight monsters all night long again!

She almost felt like crying from the frustrations pent up inside of her, but she knew that he would be there for her gladly if she could only wake him. She stared at him, her eyes slowly softening as she watched the small puddle of drool forming under his mouth and realized both how helpless he looked and how strong he really was.

He was the center of her universe that kept her going and kept her strong but not too hard-hearted to do her job successfully, but he also kept their "family" and friends going. He was all their pillars of strength, being there whenever any of them needed him if he could . . . If they needed him, Giles was always there, tweed, British charm, brilliant mind, and huge heart always ready to comfort.

Mischief pulled at the corners of Buffy's tired mouth as a new thought sprung to her mind. It was odd, but it was just odd enough, especially in their crazy world, to work. She walked around behind him again and leaned forward, her hands cupping and massaging his shoulders. She leaned closer and would have purred at the sensual scent of his cologne had she been a cat. Her breasts were already hard as she pressed against his slumped back. Her long, blonde hair fell like a shimmering curtain of spun gold to one side as she put her mouth to his ear. "I need you," her hot breath whispered against his skin.

Buffy started to give in to the urge to lick the tender flesh of Giles' ear lobe but suddenly had to snatch away as he bolted up to a sitting position so swiftly he would have knocked her down if not for her Slayer speed. His tired eyes blinked sleepily at the world through bleary pupils for his glasses lay, forgotten and askew, on his desk. "Buffy, what's wrong?!" he questioned, his eyes and voice full of panic, concern, and fear.

"Sh," she whispered and pressed a kiss to his gray hair. "I need you, Giles." She looked down at him with her best puppy-dog look, the patented one that always got her just what she wanted. "Come to bed with me. Please."

Giles let her lead him by the hand to their bed wherein he discovered it had never felt so good to be needed.
