This is a poem about Mariel Gullwhacker's longing for her father, not knowing if he's even alive, written as if by Mariel, before she eventually found her father. Please read and review! ~Sarah

Father, I Miss You

Father, you don't know how much I miss you,

From when they took out ship and your great bell,

When they captured us and took us to

The fortress of Gabool, the son of Hell.

I remember you telling me to stay,

Hidden in a blanket, in your cabin.

But I just could not stay hidden away,

Doing nothing while you fought the vermin.

I came out, fought, and I think, killed one beast,

Until I was beaten into unconsciousness.

'Twas all I could do, but I tried at least,

And now I am filled with a great sadness.

Where the Wild One kept you, I did not know.

I know I was made a slave for Gabool.

Oh father, where are you, where did you go?

I vowed to kill him, the rat, evil fool.

One day, in a fight, I got in his way,

In a fight with a defiant captain.

Me, he told me later, that he would slay.

Father, will I ever see you again?

He threw me, tied, into the raging seas!

Father, just let me see you right now!

Oh father, I need you, come for me, please!

I survived the storm, though I don't know how.

To go on with my life, I did decide.

But without you, how can I live life through?

I did not just live, to find you have died!

Oh father, how much I want to see you!

My heart is empty, without you, I'm sad.

Father, I want to see your calm face.

You're all the family I've ever had.

Father, I miss you warm, loving embrace.
