He remembered that day clearly, at the hospital, when Naruto and Sasuke was checked in. One minute they were lying on their beds resting like good little boys, then the next; they were at each others throats trying to kill each other. He saw the unmistakable head of pink against the roofs cement, he saw her tears and felt his heart constrict slightly.

He knew her since she was 12. He saw her grow from the emotionally attached girl to the young woman now. He was there to train or help train her, offering what comfort he could give to her. Never knowing that he was her pillar of strength.

She was always there to see him off when he had a mission, how she knew was beyond him, but it was nice to always embrace her before he left. He'd think of her on those lonely nights out of Konoha...and he'd always promise to himself that he'd return alive...just for her.

When he realized his true feelings, he was fighting against an S-rank ciminal, barely getting away in time, of course the criminal died, but Kakashi was badly injured.
