Disclaimer: I do not own any part of the Pokémon franchise, though I will put a slight claim on my character…

It hurt being in this still world nothing changes and nothing ever will. Sometimes I think of those stories from my childhood, ones that speak of a living breathing earth not this sad broken place. My unlikely partner sleeps peacefully; he is a pokémon and by some unwritten rule is supposed to hate me, a human. Without him I would probably be dead or lost. Together we search for a way to stop the stillness that holds, paralyzes the planet. I am scared though if we succeed then we will fade, disappear forever. I don't want go; I want to see the sun, the moon, the stars at least once. Not fade away into nothing. My partner has no such fear and, I cannot bring myself to voice these doubts. My friend and his shining spirit, is strong where I am weak and, can protect when I must hide. Tears roll down my face creating a small levitating pool in the air. A sigh escapes my lips as I wipe the unexpected tears away and push the puddle away.

"Grovyle, it's time to go." My partner, my friend, my pillar wakes to my quiet voice. The pokémon of the frozen forest won't abide two trespassers for much longer.

"Right," he nodded calmly. "Four down, one more to find."

Together we set off a bright and shadowed spirit, searching for a better world.
