A/N: I was feeling sappy today and I craved some romance, so I wrote out this story. I've had the idea in my head for months but I hadn't written it yet, so here it is. Enjoy. :)

Disclaimer: I don't own iCarly. Never have, never will.

"And we're clear!" Freddie said as he put down the camera. They had just finished doing iCarly and it had been yet another great show. Carly and Sam high-fived and giggled.

"Great show tonight, girls," he added as he closed his laptop.

"Thank you, baby. And you did a great job as well, Mister Technical Producer," Sam said jokingly, poking him in the shoulder. "Especially when you said 'In five, four, three, two, one.' It really set the mood for the show," she teased again.

Freddie rolled his eyes at his beautiful girlfriend's teasing. "For the millionth time, you don't say the one!" he laughed.

Crinkling her eyebrows, Carly asked, "Why don't you say the one? For as long as we've been doing this show, you've never said the one; you stop at the two and point to us…"

The boy looked down quickly to avoid their eyes. He always hated this question, mainly because he was embarrassed about what they would think if they ever knew the real reason. "It's just something I've always done."

"Well, duh, we know that, but it must have started somewhere," Sam pushed. She stood next to Carly and they looked at him together with curious eyes.

He looked up at them and knew they wouldn't drop the matter until he gave them an answer, so he quickly made up a lie on the spot. "Umm, well… when we start filming… I'm nervous that it'll catch my voice saying the one, which will make it seem less realistic to the viewers, so I stop at the two and point to you so you'll know to start, but the viewers won't hear me." He had heard a director explain that on a behind-the-scenes feature on a DVD and used it. The girls bought it.

"Oh, I guess that makes sense," Carly said smiling.

"I just figured an alien had abducted you and took your ability to say one, as well as your ability to be cool," Sam said with a dazzling smile.

"Yeah, because that's a reasonable explanation," Freddie said back, pecking Sam on the lips.

She smiled and bounced on her heels. "Well, I want a smoothie. Anyone up for Groovy Smoothie?"

"Always!" Carly exclaimed excitedly.

"You know it!" Freddie added, glad the subject had been dropped. He checked that all his equipment was off and they left to get smoothies, with Freddie holding Sam's hand.

He's always afraid someone would find out why he never said the one, simply because he knew Sam would never stop teasing him. Originally, he had just done it because he thought it'd be cool and mysterious, but as he got older and his feelings for a certain blonde changed, so did his motives.

When he realized he was in love with Sam, he knew he wanted her forever. Even if they're often considered "too young" to think about soul mates and love and whatnot, he knew that Sam is the perfect balance for him and she is the only person he could ever imagine himself being with in the future.

The girls never seem to notice that when he stops at the two and points at them in place of the one, his index finger is always aimed at Sam. He used to just point in their general direction, but in recent years, he had made sure his aim was focused directly on Sam.

She's the one he wants to be with forever, the one he wants to marry someday, the one he wants to be his last kiss, the one he wants to hold at night.

He never says the One. He points at her instead. Sam is his One.
