Ballad of the Lone Wanderer
His eyes shielded by a hand, raised at the intrusion of beating sunlight.
He emerges from cold, metallic safety, a slumber of over a century.
In the instant after that first, curious step, engulfed in a war
For survival, bled over from a time long forgotten.
.
At first fighting for what is right, he becomes the ruthless enemies he fights against,
Becoming an army of one, a walking arsenal.
A living legend wandering the wastes, mopping up evil
Never asking for a price.
.
He is hated by some, peace being such a stark contrast from the fear of conflict.
The lone wanderer fights more than evil around him, but from within.
For if he sets down his guns, who else would arm themselves for the people?
.
The warrior receives no compensation, even paying the ultimate price.
His father dead
Mother's lifelong dream, even after her death, destroyed.
Innocence, torn to shreds.
Emotion… Impossible.
.
Such is the life of a lone hero.
Such is the story of a world consumed in the fires of war.
Ever wandering, ever depressing, living to serve the greater good, sacrifices innumerable.
.
Cast away from his home, never to return.
Brutally cast off from the vessel
That bore him through the apocalypse.
.
There is no greater good, no greater man,
Than him.
I can only pray there have been no others like him.
Forced to bear both the praise of many, and the explosive rage of others.
The Lone Wanderer.
-Today I sat with Three Dog and discussed the man who has been mopping up evil, heard of from up and down the East Coast. I journeyed all the way from my home in Philadelphia to see him. On the way out of GNR Plaza, the man himself saved my life from a group of super-mutants. Even more incredible, He invited him to stop by his home to talk. Incredible. This trip was certainly worth it, to leave the past behind and meet a true hero of the Old World.
-The Bard
So I decided to go ahead and finally get something on here. Unfortunately, spacing hates me. I'm working on it, but this should have stanzas (Without having to punctuate spaces. Tumblr seems to do this too). Stick with me as we journey along with the Bard as he ventures across the wastes. Perhaps we will learn of his past as well... TBC
