Disclaimer: I do not own Maximum Ride, but I do own the plot. The idea for this is from my other MR story, The Apocalypse.
This story also talks about religion, but nothing is meant to be offensive.
Setting: After MAX: AMRN, as if FANG and ANGEL never happened.

"Max? What do you think is going to happen to us when we die?"
Max looked up from where she was laying on the couch to see Gazzy peering down at her. She gave him a confused look, and threw the file she was looking through to the coffee table next to her. "What?"
"Do you think we'll go to heaven when we die?"
Max scrunched her eyebrows and sat up. "I have no idea, Gaz. What makes you ask that?"
Gazzy walked around the couch and sat next to her, kicking his legs back and forth. "Well, Nudge and Angel were watching this show on TV, and they were talking about different religions."
"And?"
"And one of the religions said that when a human dies, your physical body stays on Earth while your soul goes up to heaven. But it's different with animals, since they don't have souls like we do and can't tell what's right from wrong and things like that. So, animals don't get to go to heaven."
"Ah," Max said, starting to see what he was getting at.
"So, since we're part animal, does that mean we don't get to go to heaven? That when we die, it's just… nothing else?"
"Well…" She wasn't too sure how to respond.
"Or do we still get to go to heaven since we're mostly human?"
Max thought about it for a while. "I'm… I'm not sure about that, Gaz. I guess it all depends on how you look at it."
"What do you mean?" he asked, pushing his blonde hair out of his face.
"Well, it's all in what you want to believe," She told him, wrapping an arm around him comfortingly. "I mean, who says we'll all see the same thing after we die? Who says there even is something out there for us after we die?"
"Well… Is there?"
Max laughed softly. "I don't know. But what I do know is that we won't have to worry about it for a long time." Hopefully. She added inside her head.
"Oh." Gazzy said thoughtfully.
Max stood, kissing him on the top of his head. "So, I wouldn't worry about it too much, alright?"
"Okay." Gazzy said, obviously not fully listening to her.
Max paused, her hand on the doorknob. "Hey, Gazzy?"
"Yeah?" He looked up at her.
"You know, think about it this way: We've been through so much already, there can't be much that's worse, right?"
Gazzy cracked a smile. "Yeah, I guess you're right."
Max smiled back. "Always."
She pushed opened the door and walked outside, stretching out her wings. Gazzy had surely given her a lot to think about.
So this was written mainly to get me out of my slump from my other story, which is really depressing me right now. Tell me what you think by leaving a review.
