Outside these walls there is pain and fear and heartbreak and failure, outside these walls there is life at its worse, and Spencer knows this, he sees it every day, the absolute worse parts of humanity.
He's not sure he'd be able to face those things, those people if it wasn't for his time within these walls, where cruelty and pain and hate do not exist and all that does exist is touch and smell and taste. He needs this time, but more then that he needs this time with Aaron, who centres him and grounds him in a way that is utterly necessary.
Within these walls there is only Spencer and Aaron and nothing else matters.
