Kehaar left Fiver to tend to his older brother Hazel inside the drain who just got the bullet removed from his leg.
"I'm, sorry, Fiver!" said Hazel. "I'm so sorry. I never meant to be so stupid."
"That's Bigwig's job," said Fiver, snickering a little at his own joke to which Hazel laughed but felt bad again.
"I don't how I was so stupid enough to ignore your vision. You'd think I learned after what happened to Bigwig in Cowlip's Warren."
"I think I may have caused this, Hazel," said Fiver sadly. "That vision suddenly just came into my mind like I created it."
"You didn't create it," said Hazel. "You led us to Watership Down. We'd all be dead if wasn't for you. You're a hero, Fiver. My little brother as well. But what do you get to show for it? A stubborn, stupid older brother who won't listen to any of his visions. And here is a consequence. Not only that, I put you and Pipkin in danger when I could have done it myself. What if it was you or him that the thundersrick came to? Mother would be so angry. I don't deserve to live."
"Of course you do," said Fiver sternly. "You have many countless reasons to live. You're our leader, you are in love, and you are a big brother. I need you, Hazel. Just as much as anyone else in the warren needs you."
"You are right," said Hazel sadly. "This new Hazel is a disgrace to the old. As of now, the old Hazel is back."
"I didn't mean what I said," said Fiver. "You can be any Hazel you want. Everyone changes. I have no right to order to be who you are."
"I just didn't feel clever enough to help Primrose," said Hazel ashamed.
"The best way to help someone is to just to be the one you are good at being. Don't be someone you're not. We would all love you for who you are no matter what."
"I'm glad you're my brother Fiver," smiled Hazel. "I don't know what I'd be like without you."
"Just get some rest now," said Fiver kindly as he laid next him in the water.
"Lie on my back," said Hazel. "You deserve someplace dry and warm."
"No," said Fiver. "We'll share this puddle together. I don't want you to suffer alone."
Fiver brought his face closer to his brother who was now sleeping who put a ear over Fiver. They slept until Hazel was strong enough to hop back home.
